Seems that a lot of people including me are having issue playing music, streaming and multitasking since the upgrade to Gingerbread and from what I?ve read it?s a Kernel version issue.

Does anyone know if Motorola is currently working on an update and if so by when we should expect it? If not, what other option do I have to fix this issue?

I really like my Atrix and I don't want to change it.

There is no word about Moto working on a fix for this unfortunately.

Well that's a shame. Then my phone is virtually useless since I can't listen to a song without it skipping or stream a video without it rebooting.

You can always try a different player, the bug does not happen with all.

I was using DoubleTwist until now and my phone would skip music or reboot. I switched to Winamp and so far it has worked flawlessly with no issues.

I am using paid version of PowerAmp and never had any issues with skipping music while multitasking etc. But I do have music stutters when I'm entering/exiting the subway tunnels it happens for less than a second so I think it has to do something when the phone loses/obtains the signal. but that doesn't bother me at all. Aside of that, I've never had any issues with it.

I too can report solid performance with PowerAmp Pro. Not just the absence of skipping, but outstanding sound when connected to serious hifi gear. I do sometimes hear stuttering when flipping through screens or rapidly scrolling the app drawer. I seems to be dependent on how many things I have running. If I am just listening and not fiddling with the phone all is good.

I forgot to mention, I am on stock gingerbread. (also rooted with some hand tweaks).

Im on gingerbread and as far as videos go I've watched both local and streaming videos with no issue. Sadly I still havnt gotten around to putting music on my phone. Btw that's using the stock video player for local playback and the plexapp media app for streaming

Trust me if your phone isn't skipping with the stock kernel consider yourself very lucky.I had this issue until I flashed Faux123 1.3Ghz kernel.I have been running it for a week now and the OS settled in over the past few days and after some battery cycles now I'm running at 1.3Ghz and still getting 10 hours about each day.If you're interested here is the link to how to do this, but remember that you need root and also your bootloader needs to be unlocked and you need Rom Racers custom recovery so do that before you try anything.PM me if you need some help or w.e

Custom Kernel
[Kernel]Stock FR,GB/CM7[2.6.32.xx](Unified v0.2.1)OC~1.45GHz/UV/SLQB/BFQ[Oct-23] - xda-developers

EDIT:The reason why 1.3 is also good is because its better at multi task so it handles better also games and video run way smoother and you might notice your browser is also going to run better.

I've been using Winamp for a week now with no skipping or reboot, yet. But I still can use the Youtube app without it rebooting my phone after a few video plays.
