Keyboard doesn't pop up automatically when replying to emails?

Just got the S7, and I am having an issue with the keyboard not popping up automatically when I hit 'reply' to an email. I have to hit reply, then touch the body of the email first, then the keyboard pops up. This extra step is very annoying.

On my previous Note 4 phone, the keyboard would pop up immediately when 'reply' was touched and the cursor would automatically appear in the email body to start typing.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Only happening in reply email, not in text messages or new emails, etc

Thanks for any help!

It sounds like its an issue specific to the email app (and specifically to the reply email screen). Could you inform the developer?

Nope other people probably have it. I have it. But it's not something I'd really notice. In fact I wouldn't have noticed it if you guys didn't mention it.

You are kidding, right?

If you do alot of emails daily you will notice it immediately!

Coming from the Note 4, this phone is a letdown.. Smaller screen and this email glitch are just two of the disappointments.

No not really. I don't think about it. I just open and tap to pop the keyboard up. Even on SMS apps I turn off auto pop up of keyboards because I don't want them to auto pop up if I can help it. Besides, I don't think the default sms app auto pops the keyboard up when opening a new received message. You still tap the field to bring it up. Auto pop up only happens on new messages or emails.

As for smaller screen, uh, you did know that coming in right? It's right there on the spec sheet that the screen is smaller. I don't understand how you could be disappointed by getting a smaller screen when you obviously should have known it. It's all over the internet and even on flyers and ads that it had a 5.5inch screen.

i have noticed the same issue in the last week or so - anyone have a fix ?? is there an "auto pop up of keyboards for email replies" switch ?

Nope. It's a bug on the Samsung email app. Well we don't know if it's intentional or a bug. You can try a different email app. Gmail app handles othet email services now.

Someone recently turned me on to Blue Mail, because the native Samsung app was not playing nice with my Verizon accounts. I'd never heard of it, but I've installed it and LOVE it. You might want to check it out @ bluemail.me

I've gotten used to it. The stock email app is far better than the apps for Outlook, gmail and anything else I've tried. The only thing i don't like is that it takes you to a single account inbox when taking from notification panel. I wish it would just stay in the combined inbox.

agree that the stock email is the best option. Has anyone figured out a way to change the setting that shows the inbox in 1 line view that only shows sender/subject and time received (without showing the first line of the body of email message?) The stock email app on my old Galaxy S5 had that option and it allows you to see more email per screen page view.
