keyboard lag

It's a stock browser thing... it's stil there in other browsers, but not as bad (like in Dolphin).

With the dock, you don't even notice it.

is this a google thing or an asus thing? It is absolutley frustrating.

I've only experienced this while using the stock browser. There is no lag while typing in any other program I've tried so far for both the on screen keyboard or the dock keyboard. So something's messed up with the browser. Nothing to do with Asus IMO.

Yep totally agree with you. The keyboard lag only occurs in the stock browser and it seem to happen frequently when the ram becomes low. It is strange because other apps (stock & 3rd party) are not effected by this.

I posted this with the dock. I am 95% docked, so yea, I notice it. Orbitz, aa.com, avis.com, it is frustrating trying to book travel.

I'm not, but which part of the product is bad?

I'm hoping that we don't have to wait for ICS to get this and many other things fixed. However, the TF is still ahead of the pack for innovation. In other words, what other android (or indeed other) tablet can you trully compare this to. The lag is a pain, but I think that we are really comparing this with a netbook/notebook in our heads. I know I keep comparing how it works with my netbooks! :p

I am comparing the lag to my old Ipad. I got rid of the ipad for the reason of no flash and it didnt play well with Google Premier Apps (I am the admin at my office over this).

But the keyboard lag is driving me crazy. I find myself going to my wifes ipad if I want to browse forums more and more. Also, I just love how the browser crashes all the time.

So i take it you dont mind having a bad product?

A bad product? I would hardly call this a bad product... I've had 5 tablets and the TF was the winner, for me. Sure the keyboard lag can be a little annoying, but it's the biggest problem I have with the TF and that means its a winner; again, to me. If there were tons of other issues I would probably not get it in the first place or not keep it. We are taling $550 w/ dock here.... that's a lot of money.

I get *maybe* one crash a week. When the Xoom first came out.... crashed every few minutes. The TF on 3.1 is very stable for me, even at 1.2ghz. all the time.

so which tablets have you owned? On your other tabs, keyboard lag? I am curious if this is a asus or google issue.

Yea, same as everyone else I am getting some lag when in the stock browser, but not anywhere else. So like if i use the G+ app to post to a stream I am fine, or even if I use FireFox there is no lag. It is only in stock browser.

Its not a bad product, just a bad browser. Thankfully there are plenty other great browsers out there where the problem isnt present.

I havent had a single browser crash, but then again I went to another browser after the first week with lag. The transformer is the best tablet on the market in my eyes, the dock innovation alone sets it apart from the rest. The only issue thus far (other then google not making Honeycomb fully open source) is the keyboard lag that is only present in the stock browser. Easy fix and with opera working so well (other then some text box issues here and there) I dont really miss it all that much.

Samsung Tab 7" - slight lag, but I think it was performance/hardware related
Xoom - laggy in the browser also
Samsung Tab 10.1" - also laggy in the browser.

I had an ipad2 also... but lets not go there. :D

So the common factor is honeycomb between the TF, Xoom, and Tab 10.1. And the stock browser.

Definitely a Google issue. I would love to see lag gone and make the browser more robust (e.g. testing ftp sites, running locally stored HTML/HTM files). Just my $.02

I switched the keyboard and notice a lot less leg in the stock browser. There is still some but way less then before. I also use Firefox and there is no lag with that. Also no browser crashes at all yet (knock on wood)

When you say "switched the keyboard" do you mean you got a replacement for the dock (i.e., same model keyboard/dock just a physically different unit) or you got a completey different keyboard separate from the dock (if so what type/model - usb, Bluetooth or other?). Your answer may indicate whether the dock keyboard slightly exacerbates the pre-existing keyboard lag issue.

Sorry are we just talking the dock ketboard? I am talking about the on screen keyboard lag.

Sorry, no, soft keyboard is fair game too - just wasn't thinking that because I use mine docked most of the time and use the physical keyboard (as I look back through the thread, it's not entirely clear whether people are talking the dock keyboard or the soft keyboard and I just read the responses as referring to the dock and/or a physical keyboard). Your experience with the onscreen keyboard just further points to Android being the issue (specifically with the stock browser) and that the keyboard dock is likely not at fault. Thanks.

Only time I notice lag is in the search box on google.com. I just usually do my searches straight from the URL bar instead. I really dont notice it anywhere else while browsing.
