Kill WiFi when locked

Is there a setting natively to turn off WiFi when the screen is locked? Or do I have to resort to an extra app (and in which case, any suggestions)?

All having the WiFi running is going to do is notify me of an email, which I really don't need - I'd much prefer to save the battery.

Perhaps I wasn't quite explicit enough. I want the device to automagically do this for me. It's a computer, it should make my life easier - not the other way round.

Settings>WiFi>Advanced(three dots in upper corner)>keep WiFi on During Sleep

I was able to disable Gmail on mine. I'm not sure if it will stay that way or not. I don't want my tablet messing with my email, especially without my choosing it. Google has a good idea with the auto-email but they have to realize that with multiple machines we may want our email saved until we boot up the mainframe, err.. desktop computer.

Awesome, thanks. I figured there should be an O/S setting to do it since my phone works that way. Clearly I didn't go through enough settings pages yet - I'll have a play when I get home :)

The answer is: Mostly but I have also received email notifications sometimes after locking the screen so there still seems to be something amiss occasionally. For the most part, however, my WiFi shows as being on when me screen shows as being on.

Maybe you've got an app running that's preventing sleep properly or is trying to access the network?

Sucks we have to baby this stuff so much :-\

I have mines to set off after going to sleep and find that it takes awhile for it for wifi to actually shut off. Don't know how to expedite the process :(

Tasker could probably do this for you. Or maybe there is a setting in JuiceDefender for WiFi off after lock.
