I wouldn't hold my breath. actually, I'm not even sure I WANT KitKat now. My S4 is working just fine now, I'm not sure I want to rock the boat. anyone know how large this update is going to be?

I would have thought we'd get 4.4.3 (newest version) after such a long wait instead of 4.4.2. But if you don't already know, KitKat will severely limit your phone's abilty to use the external SD card in the way you have been using it. So, if you update to Kitkat, be advised.

In general it forces an app to designate what it will use on the SD card and then forces it to use only that area. This, like so many things, has been blown WWWWAAAAAYYYYYY out of proportion by everyone that posts about it. Several folks over at Android Central have the update and have seen no difference in how their device worked with the SD card. The only complaint that I have seen from them was that ES File Explorer couldn't access the SD card, but the dev put out an update shortly thereafter and fixed that issue. There have been a gazillion threads out there about why this app needs that permission and why does that app need that permission and this is sort of the same scenario. Google had fixed it so that an app only get access to the area it needs on the SD card and therefore a rogue app can't just dig around on the SD card willy nilly because it won't have permission to do it. Overall, don't worry about the SD card changes, its just another case of people whining over things changing. They don't want anything to change, but they want an update. Go figure... A double minded man is unstable in all his ways!!
