In regards to the recent Stagefright exploits, do KitKat users need to do anything to protect themselves against this? What about future exploits that might come about? Is an anti-virus or security app necessary to provide a layer of security to guard against this?
I have a Nexus 4, which is running KitKat. Lollipop is available for the Nexus 4, but I've read that you're probably better off staying with KitKat on the Nexus 4. I'm not really someone that enjoys changing phones every 2 years (or less often). My Nexus 4 does everything I need it to do. To that point, I would really like to see Google support Android versions for a lot longer than they are. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I like stability and like to get a lot of life out of my devices. It would be really beneficial to me if Google would continue to push out updates for KitKat for those of us that prefer stability and longer use.
Or are there security apps that would be recommended that would act as a layer of security above the phone OS level?
