KitKat update - not able to turn on WIFI

Have a friend that updated his Verizon SGS3 to KitKat, now he cannot turn on his wifi. It seems to lock up the phone when you try to turn it on. then it flashes real quick that Wifi is on but it goes back to off. Trying to help him figure it out before suggesting a factory reset.

You were supposed to do factory reset after installing the update!! Hope this helps!!

My WiFi was ghosted out, as I predicted it would be. I did a factory reset and then redownloaded the KitKat update, all is well.

Some do, some don't. Luck of the draw.
I had to reset after the last time, but so far not with KK.

My friend ended up doing a Factory Reset and that resolved the WiFi issue. Thank you everyone for the suggestion
