Knox questions?

I'm considering getting an S4 to use as both a personal and work phone. My company doesn't mandate any sort of security software, but I would strongly prefer some kind of wall separating my personal apps, contacts etc from my work stuff. I like what I've read about Knox, but I'm not sure I understand how to set it up -- if I get the phone, is Knox something I can set up myself before taking it to my IT dept and having them set up my work email info, etc? Do I need to check with my IT dept (which is not all that helpful) for any specifics? Thanks and apologies if this is a bit of a silly question...

I don't think Samsung has released Knox yet. I'm not sure but when my trustgo app scans the apps on my phone it show the Knox app but unable to open it.

Thanks - I did look through that materials from Samsung but remain unsure whether it 's something I can just set up on my personal device or whether I need my IT dept to understand it and do it for me. Of course, if it still hasn't been released yet...
