I just purchased my first smart phone. I was looking for something that was pretty rugged do that I would be less likely to break it at work. The salesperson led me to the Kyocera DuraForce. What I'm wanting is some opinions on whether I made a mistake or not. I know nothing about smart phones and I haven't seen much about the phone on Android Central. Nothing good anyway. Just hoping I didn't make a bad decision since I'm stuck with the phone for 2 years.

Welcome to Android Central! It gets average to above-average reviews. It looks like the main advantage is the ruggedness--if your job or leisure activities put your phone at risk of damage, then this is probably a decent choice, since there aren't many rugged smartphones out there (but then again, you could always get a sturdy case for any of the less rugged phones). Complaints include a mediocre camera and not so great battery life.

Kyocera is a pretty minor player in the US smartphone arena--what this means is that you shouldn't expect many system updates from them (if any). This isn't always a bad thing, especially when you read the forums and see the various complaints about the latest update.

If you've had the phone for less than 2 weeks, you may be able to return it and choose a different phone. So if you have buyer's remorse, talk to your carrier and ask about their return policy.

Thank you. Camera is not a big deal to me. The battery life is pretty bad though. I have had it for almost a month now. So time to return is up. But so far I'm pretty happy with the phone. But like I said, I have zero experience with smart phones so I wouldn't know what a good one is. I will say that this phone has already taken 3 hard drops that would have destroyed most and doesn't have a scratch on it. Thanks again.
