L710VPLG8 update issues?

Since updating to LG8 I've lost the ability to select the WiFi frequency in the WiFi Advanced settings. It used to have the choice between Auto, 5 ghz, and 2.4 ghz.

My problem is that my phone was set to 5 ghz before the update and now it's stuck on 5 ghz with no way to change it. That means I can't connect to any networks broadcasting at 2.4 ghz. That means McDonald's, Starbucks, and just about all the free WiFi hotspots out there.

Sprint says that the issue is known but there is no fix yet, other than a master reset and roll back to LG2 or LEN. No bueno for me.

Thought I would throw my experience with the update into this thread, too.

I finally received the update notification yesterday, but I didn't proceed as I wasn't sure if I had to revert to the stock recovery, unroot, etc.

I downloaded the update from straight from Google and copied it onto my phone. I rebooted into recovery and into ClockworkMod. I was able to successfully install it via ClockworkMod by choosing the ZIP file option.

I was actually surprised it worked! I didn't have to unroot and I didn't have to revert to stock recovery. I'm happy that I saved quite a few steps and time.

I did lose root, as expected, but Voodo OTA RootKeeper came to the rescue.

Now I have the sliding brightness bar, the Sound window under settings looks re-organized, but I'm more curious to see how the device will be performing. I can immediately tell that it's a bit snappier at my taps and a tad more responsive. Time will tell.

Since installing Lux, auto brightness is perfect for me. Does anyone know if there is a way to hide the brightness bar from the status bar?
