Lack of S Pen and smaller outer screen

Agreed.... They should have used S10+ sized front screen.

I think they’d wanna charge $2.5K plus if the out screen was S10+ sized. I really am curious to see how they hold up over time. $2K for one phone is just more than I can quite stomach.

Not sure how much it would add to production costs.

It really does make one ask why they didn’t go with a larger outer display. I have a feeling it was because of more than just costs. Maybe they just wanted the user to open up the phone for a larger display whereas if they’d put a 6”+ display on the outside it might be often pointless to open the phone up. ...or something along those lines. Who knows?

Actually it could impact desirable weight

It would definitely impact the thickness, the connectors and driver for the display need to go somewhere, that's why we've had top and bottom bezels for years. Now things like headphone jacks are disappearing there's room to move it closer to the edge and fold it behind a display edge. Not sure how that could work with a dual display if you wanted them both going to the edge.

A hybrid fold note would have got my money.

Like the SPen too much.

Roll on the 10.

only two things stop me not to buy this phone
1 No S Pen
2 small outer screen

anyone else in same boat?

The fact that there was no room for a headphone jack makes a S Pen less likely until much further down the road, if at all. Never had much use for it anyway.

This is a generation one device. Bezels will likely shrink in upcoming generations. The sheer engineering that went into this "guinea pig" device is extremely impressive.

I have a great deal of admiration for anyone who is an early adopter of such groundbreaking tech. A happy and long lasting marriage is far more valuable to me.

If they didn't put the unnecessary inside cameras, we'd probably have a notchless screen and room inside for an spen.

Depends how important video calling is to you I guess. Across East Asia it's pretty important.

The device panels are extremely thin too so I doubt there's much room in there until existing components get smaller.

If you spend $2k for a 7.3 inch display, you probably won't spend much time on the smaller screen, thus the need for the cameras and the notch. Laser cutouts would be better but the screen is plastic.
