Lag after one week?

This is ridiculous! No 800 dollar phone should lag. Not brand new. The whole point of these new chip sets is to run stuff. These phones are so much more powerful than computers from a few years ago, and they had a lot more things going on (Windows)
We are all being duped
Just my two cents

At this stage, if Samsung just slapped stock Android on, I honestly wouldn't buy their phones. Say what you will about the latest version of their UI, but it's not the Samsung of old, and they have added a significant number of useful enhancements over stock Android. I miss those enhancements when I use a device with stock AOSP.

Yeah so I have to echo this sentiment.

In 2012 I bought a Nexus 7 tablet due to all the hype of stock Android/Nexus yada yada... And to be completely honest I have preferred all my Samsung devices over the Nexus. I still have it, my 4 yr old uses it now, but I find it to be relatively boring and hardly ever reach for it.

Like I said most of the stuff they add on to stock Android can be added via apps. But u can't do the reverse. Make it run like a Pixel phone.

Yeah but you also can't give a pixel good hardware so I guess it's kind of even. No wait, it's not even at all. My S8 looks like a Pixel (SW), but has the great Samsung hardware. I feel I'm getting the best of both worlds.

On that I completely agree. If Samsung can't get their software optimized enough to avoid all lag, they should ship only with 6GB RAM.

Yeah but wait for a while. Every Samsung phone starts lagging after some time. It's not just the Samsung UI but something buried deep into their system. The Pixel isn't known to have lag issues.

My GS7E disagrees. In fact it has gone better over the months, especially after each update. I do have automatic restart enabled once a week and I close background apps manually every now and then.

It's not all Samsungs. My S6 still runs smooth and fast. Not as fast as my S8 obviously.

I haven't experienced any lag and I have a Pixel as well. And I too appreciate the Software changes that Samsung makes. I don't know why everyone is so hung up on stock Android. I like Android because I like options. I don't want Android turning into iOS. Screw that. Samsung needs to keep doing what they are doing.

Maybe Pixel 2 will look better. We won't know till its finally released.

I have tried Action/Nova/Google/Pixel and stock launchers on my S8+. All of them lag a little to a lot. Of course not all the time. But still none of them are as smooth as my Pixel XL with stock Android.

No lag here. There's a couple minor bugs though. Try minimizing a YouTube video while playing specifically in 1080p 60fps by dragging from the top left corner.

The video will freeze but audio will continue. It only happens with 1080p 60fps. Just 1080p is fine. This problem is only with making the window smaller. Other than that, multi tasking and performance in general is smooth.

Only lag I have had is in the stock messaging app. Went back the Google messages.

I had three of them (due to the pink screen problem) and all three of them had lag issues. The phone just starts to slow down after each reboot and after a day or so lag starts to appear. Mainly manifests itself in slow app loading speeds, slow wake-up and slow app-switching. I live in Europe, so could be Exynos related. In any case, the phone feels dramatically slower than the iPhone 7 Plus I have switched back to since.

People who look for lag find lag. Every phone, including an iPhone 7+ (I own one) is susceptible to so called lag. Typically it's your connection or the app that's slowing everything down, not the device.

Sorry, but that's pretty far from the truth. I agree that lag can be subjective, but I maintain that the S8+ does lag while the iPhone 7 Plus does not. Some apps scroll jerkier than others on the iPhone, but I have never experienced that nothing happens for 2 seconds when tapping on an application icon or that the phone doesn't wake up for a second or so after I've pressed the power button on the iPhone. As in not a single time. Whereas I got that kind of behavior on a regular basis on all three S8+ I had.

Hmm...havent experienced that on my S8. I think he's right.

Head over to some European forum - seems to be a trend with the Exynos version this year.

Yeah I don't really wanna go that deep. Ultimately I can only speak to my experience. There comes a point where you can't even enjoy your own phone cause your so busy into someone else's unhappiness.

That's the double edge sword of these forums. Great for info and solving potential issues. But at a point people need to get off of here and get out and enjoy your device, or return it. I hate getting mired in all the negativity. It skews your perspective after awhile.

I almost gave up my G6 after early reports of cracking camera lenses and blurry photos. So glad I didnt.
