Lag from my LG G3 vanished! :D

mine won't switch to art on my att phone. I select the ART radio button and tap yes, phone reboots, still Dalvik. Am I doing something wrong?

Hmmm that's weird. When you select the ART radio button your phone should reboot and go through the conversion process. I just helped my buddy last night switch his AT&T G3 and we had no issues. You might want to try a wipe then convert but that will take a lot of time but will be worth it for the rest of your ownership of your device. I wish I had a better answer for you.

I have Verizon also. Many bugs persisted even after a week. Art was fluid but battery life was not improved, certain apps wouldn't open, overheating occurred. The phone would also freeze and require a restart. Most people having trouble with art seem to be on Verizon. Just my $0.02

Yeah I really don't know what it is with the Verizon model that causes problems with ART but on the AT&T model the phone cannot be smoother! My phone is like butter. Smooth, lightening fast, no bugs, 30% improved battery life, no need to reboot, and no overheating. ART on the AT&T model is perfect! Verizon better figure it out because the default runtime for Android 5.0 will be ART.

I'd love to give the ART runtime a go, but the problem there is that I use several Xposed modules... and Xposed and ART are not compatible... so its Dalvik only for me.

Of course, I ditched the stock ROM (and the T-Mobile build-based ROMs) and switch over to CloudyG3, which is based on the international base.... and the phone's performance improved significantly. I lost WiFi Calling, but that wasn't a big deal for me anyhow.

I was thinking about going to cloudy haven't gotten a chance to read about it yet though. But if you lose wifi calling it's a no go for me.

Confirming that ART did not work on my Verizon G3. I had just Factory Reset my phone, had turned off my phone backup because some app was draining my battery (really, crap battery life in general, but was worse than usual, can't wait for my free battery & external charger). I had also installed the update. So I thought, good time to test ART. Least amount of apps to update. Well, did ART & the 20 minutes to update, waited 5 minutes, rebooted. Phone soon locked up with screen on, no response. Removed battery, can back on. Soon, screen went black. Pulled battery again to recover. Plug in my charger, and phone vibrated, but no lightning bolt symbol indicating battery was charging. So, I Factory Reset again (again, no to backup apps) and oddly two apps I have never downloaded appear on my front screen. Bingo Bash & Top Hatter. Weird. Uninstalled, but odd that they were installed on their own. Maybe the update? Guess I will have to wait till Verizon gets me 'L'. Will not hold my breath.

Yeah... if you rely on that feature, you're SOL. But it's not that high on my list.... I came to the G3 from a Nexus 5 (which didn't have WFC) and while it was nice to have, I didn't need it. I had a crappy signal at my house, but I got one of the boosters (not the wi-fi booster, the mini phone tower one), so it's not like I'm losing anything.

At some point, a native T-Mobile build is going to get whatever superjuice that's in Cloudy and I'll get it back.

glad i found this the lag was driving me nuts i had a lg f3 and it ran a **** load faster than my new g3 now the videos are running great thanks!

I just am doing my second reboot. I did seem to lose mobile data after initially switching, but it came back after making a phonecall.

Even without adjusting the animations, I am noticing less drag.

One question though. I'm used to having to wipe Dalvik cache with flashing zips. Do we have to somehow wipe ART? do we continue to wipe Dalvik?

If you're running something that depends on Dalvik, like xposed, that can sometimes prevent the switch.

Thanks. I really love Windows Phone for the fresh UI and ecosystem but the lack of 3rd party apps made me come to Android. Can't wait for Android 5.0 no doubt!

Same here regarding Windows Phone. I'm happy I moved to Android for the apps alone and I'm really enjoying my G3 with the Aviate launcher. Still willing to give Windows 10 another shot in a year or two, though.

I have AT&T. I've done your change in settings. Definitely a lot less lag. I've tried a few apps. One problem I've solved is my Google Play app is playing mp3s I have stored on my 64gig external micro SD card. At the begininning they pause a few times, but before the change in setting, they wouldn't play at all. I'm going to try it for a while and see if it gets better and how its changed things. Thank You.
