Lag with Pixel 2

I think a little lag here and there is just part of owning an Android device. it's just the way apps interact with the operating system. As smooth as the Pixel is, no phone I've used on Android has been as lag free as iOS. It's the one thing Apple has just nailed. the only thing really...lol

I have had lag when using iOS. Especially the latest iOS. Apple really dropped the ball on iOS 11 with bugs and other things.

My dub on "lag" versus a small "hiccup" is what I think differentiates me from some when they ask about lag. A device or even the app itself can hiccup. Lag to me is when swiping a menu and it stutters over or something OS related.

I get dreadful lag on my 6s!

That's to conserve battery life....lol
I changed my battery for a new one and it still runs out with little use in a few hours. IOS 11 is the worst OS on Apple I have ever used. Seriously bad. I use numbers for my budgeting and a few other Apple software and I love my MacBook Air. BUT the iPhone is no match for my Pixel on Oreo 8.1. It is a much better user experience all round.

No problems here! I had the Sammy for awhile too, and it lagged. I called Verizon and had my connection reset to the carrier, and that cleared everything up! Might be worth a try.

Not only don't I get lag, I'm always on Battery Saver, which makes the phone slower. (But I don't play intensive games or anything that would tax the phone. just normal apps, texts, calls, and about 50GB of storage free.)

Unless, you're in a jungle or desert hut with one broken down solar panel trying to keep your phone alive as long possible while still having enough juice to run your hot plate why would you keep a phone on battery saver?

No offence if you do live in a jungle or desert hut. ;)

No lag or stutter whatsoever on this bad boy, still buttery smooth. I reboot once in a while but that's about it.

Facebook is a data hog so perhaps that could be the culprit. Plus, being in a weaker-signal area or even in a low WiFi zone could have a negative impact on battery, loading times, etc. Plus, the low signals will also negatively impact Facebook's loading time. Does the same random lag hiccup happen when you're in other areas (ie, a different place with a strong WiFi signal?)?

To make it last longer would be my guess. I don't run battery saver, however I don't see anything wrong with doing so if someone wants too.

Same here. My Pixel 2xl is still butter! I am very happy with picking it over the s9+
I did the same, almost. I waited for the S9/S9+ to come out and almost fell for the beautiful hardware yet again. But as a recovering Samsung user I was able to resist the temptation! I got a Pixel 2 and am getting happier with my decision every day!

Wanted to comment on using chrome as the browser too. Chrome is definitely my least favorite mostly due to ads, it feels like they add extra ads when I use it so I don't. I actually loved the Samsung browser on my S7 but right now I'm using Firefox and enjoying the features it has which includes Ad block plus just like the Samsung browser. I really don't like chrome that much on my phone.

Here's why I prefer using Chrome. I use Chrome on my Windows 10 PC, my Windows 10 tablet, and I use the default Chrome on my Pixel 2 XL. Whatever changes I make to Chrome on any device, adding or deleting a bookmark, the changes are immediate on all my devices. Chrome always looks and works the same everywhere. That's very important to me.

As for ad blockers, you can use any number of different ad blocker extensions for Chrome. Ads are not added by Chrome, ads are added by the web sites themselves to generate their own revenue. I use "Ad Block", the most popular Chrome extension. So not using Chrome because it doesn't natively block ads until you add an ad blocker extension isn't really an issue at all.

Yeah I know where ads come from. I guess it's just been awhile since I've messed with chrome much because I didn't know there was an ad blocker. I'll have to check that out and give it a go.

As for synching between devices, I know you can do that but I typically don't want to see the same things on my phone that I would on my computer so I've never done that. Just don't use it that way.
