Lagging already?

So for the last day or two there have been times where it takes a noticeable delay (10-20 seconds, maybe) for the home screen to populate with icons and also for the app tray to launch. I did install Tasker about 4 days ago. I'm wondering if it's to blame. Still I had hoped that the memory management issues had been cleared up in ICS. Anyone else had similar issues with this phone, already?

Never had that kind of delay on my phone. 10-20 seconds? Thats an eternity when your staring at the phone wanting it to do something. Definitely unacceptable. If tasker is the only thing that has changed since you have had this problem i would try disabling it and see if that clears up the issue. If it does then you know whats causing it.

I have experienced 1-2 second delays, but i also have a few apps that are set update whenever the screen is turned on so i blame it on that. Not a big deal since it does not happen all the time.

I would clear the cache (in recovery if your rooted and download 1-click cleaner if not). Then if you see the delay again, delete Tasker and run a day or two without it to see if that clears it up. It's very possible that Tasker is not running well on ICS yet.

I get a home screen refresh a couple times a week. It usually takes about 2-3 seconds.
Not terrible considering I have 7 widgets running.

I got tons o widgets running and never have seen lag or a redraw....nothing but blazing speed

Nope, haven't had that kind of lag. Maybe the occasional launcher crash and recover for a couple seconds but that's it. And definitely, NO THIRD PARTY TASK MANAGERS. I use the built-in cardview manager and it gets the job done.

Yup, hit the task switcher button on the bottom right and swipe away apps you don't need. No need for anything else. Delete apps until you find the one that's behaving poorly, or just do a factory reset and be done with it quickly.

Ok, guys, the answer is simple. It's an app. You've downloaded something that is clogging things up. We've all done this. There's a power that takes over our mind and we go searching Google Market for new, cool apps. Then we start scouring the web for tips on new apps. Then the Amazon market, then Getjar. It's an obsession. We download almost anything and everything trying to fulfill the need to try something new.

Eventually we'll download an app(s) that starts eating the battery or the GPU or the CPU or bandwidth. It's inevitable. I've done it, you've done it, we've all done it.

There are only 3 options:

1) Start deleting apps until the problem goes away. This is problematic as it's entirely possible that it could be multiple apps not playing nice with each other. It's a hit and miss solution.

2) do a factory reset. Then carefully install apps, never more than 1 per day, to determine what app is causing the problem. This will solve your problem EVERY TIME. Alas, it takes a lot of discipline to do this but it will work.

3) Do nothing. Learn to live with the sluggishness and blame it on the phone or ICS or the gods.

I have well over 100 apps, run 9 widgets and it's just as fast as the day i bought it. Tasker is a powerful tool. Maybe you have something set up wrong on it

I uninstalled Tasker and everything's back to normal. Thanks all for the advice.

I was using the seven day free trial of the dev's website. I'd still recommend giving it a shot. It's a great app and you might not have the same issues as I did.
