Is there an app or anyway to have a single book page only rather than left and right? Maybe I am out of step with the setup experts, but the two pages close together on small screen is annoying.

FBReader and Aldiko both give you one column in landscape. Kindle has the option to do one or 2 columns. Nook Reader only does 2 columns in landscape.

Sucessfully installed Kindle app and downloaded library of books to Nexus. Also downloaded Aldiko. I have tried for hours every procedure to get the library into Aldiko /ebooks file. All of them fail because something is not able to be completed in the procedure. I have gone to Dropbox, Cloud, direct cable from Manage My Kindle et. with no luck. Kindle procedure says I used action to deliver book to my registered android device (Nexus) - says it is sending. It never arrives in downloads, /ebooks on Aldiko or anywhere else on Nexus. This is driving me nuts. Please has anyone done the Aldiko transfer sucessfully by any procedure. Would even offer reward for any experimental time. Thanks for any help.

I had both the free and premium versions of Aldiko, but I've removed them so I can't test for you. I'd advise switching to FBReader, because I found that Aldiko was amazingly slow in changing pages; FBReader is blazingly fast. In FBReader, you simply have to place your ebooks in the "Books" folder.

In the Kindle app, make sure you go to the context menu (3 boxes in the upper right corner) and select "Sync & Check for Items."

Thanks much for the tip. I have the list of 260 books on the Nexus in the Kindle app area and can read ok but only two pages together on screen. I downloaded FBReader but am unable to access and put in FB folder. Looks like there should be a way to transfer files from one app to another, but gfuess not with Nexus. Regards!

In the Kindle app, I assume you're trying to read in landscape mode. Click on the screen to get the controls, then click the Aa icon to bring up the text options. When you're in landscape, it has the option for either one or 2 columns. In portrait mode, there's always only one column.

You can't directly transfer Kindle books (at least those you've purchased, that have DRM) to another app. (And it's almost impossible to find where they're hidden in the Nexus 7 file structure, too.) However, if you have Calibre on your PC, it has an available plugin that can remove the DRM from Kindle books. Then you can sideload those into the Books folder on the Nexus 7, where FBReader will see them.

I'm dealing with this same issue. where do I find the Google Play books on my device so that I can copy them over to a different reader?

Kindle does an excellent job of hiding thier book files. IIRC, they're hidden on your internal memory under sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.kindle. However, they will not show up as the title of the book. They are listed with a code number and .prc or .msomething. I had to search for a while for the right folder on mine. Happy Hunting.
