Latest security update brick

Just a heads up, the latest security update bricked my XL last night. Verizon is taking care of it as its out of warranty.

My XL was bricked by a security update yesterday, and Google Fi has told me that they won't do anything for me, save for potentially supporting a claim through my Device Protection plan. That will cost me $99 and use one of my two annual allowances.

I have been a big fan of Google Fi, and this treatment severely damages their reputation with me.
