Launch Day Predictions

That's the thing, most of the people that are going to get this outdated iphone don't even realize its a year old, nor do they care...they are looking at the name brand and what everyone else has...

The iPhone went on sale in June. Not exactly a year, now is it? ;)

No, I know, lol, its just a shame for the people who really wanted the iphone for Verizon when they are going to release a new one in a few months...makes sense on Verizon and Apples part though...I just hate that I have to wait even longer for the phone I want because of it, lol

Lol. Well, them's the breaks. Look at it this way; because the iPhone will be out, you won't have to deal with those people when you go to get your thunderbolt.

I think a lot of the people getting the new iPhone on Verizon (especially those coming from AT&T, which could be as high as 30%(!) of AT&T's iPhone customers) will just upgrade when the new one comes out anyways.

i'm right there with you guys as well. i try explaining to my wife about how cool android is, and custom roms/themes and she could care less. lol

I'm not allowed to touch my wife's X because I'll "Mess it up." I'll "Fiddle with stuff and then the phone won't work."

Which is why Apple's been building them since Fall. They'll have plenty, though pent-up demand means they probably won't be able to keep up.

Don't quote me on the numbers as I can't remember where I read them. They are talking about 1 million phones the first week. I think Verizon can only ship 20,000 phone per day. Even if 50% of the people order on line that gives a 25 day back log. Fed Ex gotta love all the extra business.

Who knows VZW may have worked on increasing the number of orders they can fill a day. It wouldn't make sense though to keep all these people on the payroll forever.

I would think that wouldn't be retroactive just like the upgrade change wasn't.

If you return the phone, then come get the TBolt when it is released you will be restarting your contract from the day you get the TBolt, so the terms & conditions in effect the day you re-sign your contract (14 days) will be the ones in effect.
It's a moot point anyway, as you are only allowed 1 return/exchange.

Well you get 30 days with Best Buy, so if you plan accordingly you have some time to play, plus you could exchange 1 to 2 phones but no guarantees. The best is 30 days one phone, maybe two.

This is totally unlike anything Verizon has ever done before. The phones are coming from Verizon AND apple.

Trust me, they'll be able to keep up with shipping them. The biggest issue is having enough phones, but like I said, they've been building up supplies for a while now.

I recall rumors indicating Apple had 5 million CDMA phones on order for the US due in February. So if that usual source overseas was right then Apple and Verizon will have lots of stock ready to go.

So be it, now get the TB out the door so you can sell that as well. Those who want one phone are not going to get it over another phone, I want (as you do as well) what I want, the TB.

On one hand, we have so much information about the TB, there is so much marketing already in play with the TB on it.. employees are getting training on it, and yet the rumor is March 17th!? If someone showed me a pamflet for a new phone today, and then didn't ask me about it for two months, I wouldn't remember a damn thing about it. So it SEEMS like this phone is coming out very soon...

But on the other hand, we KNOW that the iPhone comes out on Feb 10th... and all the speculation is that verizon and Apple, wont want another (superior) phone stealing away sales from the holy iPhone. Which would lead to the March 17th release date...

Nothing makes any sense!! GGRRR, my Droid1 is literally falling apart, and I need to know a release date, or at least some pricing! I may have to wait 'till March just to find out I can't fricken' afford a $299 phone with a $100 a month unlimited data plan...

Right now all we know is that for the LTE usb sticks it is $50 for 5GB and $80 for 10GB. But traditionally data plans on phones have been cheaper than their usb counterpars. I like think the reason for that is because you are buying two services in one, and stuff is always cheaper is packages. Data + voice plan = cheaper than just a data plan.

Putting caps on data seems like it's going backwards in the development of technology, but honestly I'd be OK with a cap on a new LTE phone, so long as the cap is reasonable. 5GB I feel would be unreasonable, 10 I could deal with, 15 would be completely reasonable to me (for a $30 a month data plan). Currently I use between 1GB and 2 GB of data a month on my D1

What do you guys think would be reasonable for monthly data costs, and data caps?

I'm guessing last week of January or first week of Febuary as a soft launch with only EVDO Rev.A data available at first. LTE service and SIM cards will be offered when the Bionic is ready for launch in April.

LOL, No way! Verizon won't launch this phone without LTE working. When it comes out, it will have sims cards, and LTE data. Why on earth would they wait until another phone by another company came out.. that makes no sense.
