I'd like to use a Launcher but not loose ability to use the new screen swipe gestures and eliminate the icons for back, home, open app.
Any suggestions or would they all work?

I've been using Nova for the better part of 5 years now. I don't even know what the stock launcher offers anymore that Nova doesn't. But to your question, I like Nova for the clean home screen look. If you're talking about removing or hiding the bottom nav bar, I believe you can do that in Nova but haven't tried.

Let me know if you can hide them or not, as far as new changes, the swipe gestures are awesome. Slowly pull finger up from bottom and Open Apps appear, pull at edge of left screen takes screen back to last screen, completely replacing the need for the three icons a bottom of screen, give it an even cleaner look.

You can control a ton of things with gestures on Nova.

Android 10 gestures do work on Nova on the Pixel 3, and when you're using gestures, the nav bar buttons do not appear.
