launcherpro beta

Just replaced Helix2 with launcherpro. Much faster. I like the way tapping the home key pops up all of my screens. Only downfall - I can't change the dock apps.

the main problem im having is fc's when using the dock. when i place it on, and take it off, fc's nearly every time. hmm.

big fan of this one so far. i wish i could change the apps in the dock, but then again, i like how the dock buttons look, so it isnt a huge deal. the only thing i would like to see is the option to hide your notification bar while on your home screens

I like the quickness, however the app is pretty, how can I put this? Simple.
Ruqqq tweeted last night (If you don't know who ruqqq is he is the dev behind Helix) that he wanted to work with the dev and that together they can have a fast, customizable app. I highly agree (I am on the latest launcher2 beta that destroys this app).

Yet it seems that this dev is not interested in a colaboration. All in all, this app is just to simple for my taste.

Glad some of you like it though.;)

That would actually be a real good option, to auto hide the notification bar, good call!

So far so good for me on this launcher though, I love the quickness and crisp animations between screens.

Why would he want to collaborate with Helix? Sounds like ruqqqqqqqq wants some of the thunder that Launcher Pro has. Most comments I've read have been people leaving Helix for launcher pro.

Simplicity, yeah who wants that when you can have a slow, buggy, force closing feature-full launcher with a bunch of features you don't need?

I hope it stays lean and fast.

every time i hear about one of these new home screen/launcher apps i give them a try... and within a few hours end up switching back to dxtop. they all seem to lack the one feature i think is most valuable in dxtop: modifying the app drawer.

am i the only person who thinks stock the app drawer is completely useless? I hate having a drawer cluttered with apps I don't use or want, or apps that don't even launch from the drawer (icon packs, widgets, etc). it drives me nuts every time I switch to another "desktop replacement" whether it's the 3d launcher from google, helix, launcherpro, or the various other options... they all lack the ability to (at the very least) let me hide apps I don't want to see.

With dxtop I'm able to not only categorize my apps, but I can hide the ones I never use or cannot be "launched". Additionally, icons in my dock/home screens can be hidden (as I can already get to them from another location).

I have my apps all categorized, useless ones hidden. I have app icons on my home screen(s) in the dock, and in "folders" that dynamically update with the aforementioned categories. Anything that appears in one of those places does not appear in the drawer. My drawer has something like 5-6 visible icons, most of which are apps I want access to, but don't use often enough to justify placing elsewhere. Examples -- Gallery, Calculator, Alarm clock, stock browser (i use dolphin).

Maybe I'm just crazy about organization, but I just can't imagine going back to a cluttered mess of a drawer.

EDIT: I think the point of the above rant is: are people aware of these features? do people achieve this using another app? do folks just not mind the drawer being cluttered?

well launcher pro is giving all non-sense device owner a feature that is in sense (and it is a useful feature and not something that doesn't have a use). i like helix better at this point solely because of the stability in it.

in all honesty though why would the creator of Launcher pro want to work with ruqqq. He has created a demand for somthing new. Dont get me wrong though ruqqq created an amazing foundation and i think it will be somthing that will be outdate as time goes but it will be one of those launchers that people can feel safe using due to it stability. The problem is that Launcherpro will probably be updated real soon so that it has that stability which means if Ruqqq wants to reclaim his title he needs to keep innovating and not fall back on his past achievements. it is going to be interesting to see how this pans out between the 2.

Im liking it so far... I agree, having come from a Storm, that the ability to hide apps in the drawer would be a plus. But for me, with the ability to create folders, setup 7 homescreens plus the notification dropdown, I rarely open the drawer.

The only bug Ive come across has been that in a low memory condition it wont let me change wallpapers, and in fact changes back to the default theme wallpaper. But a quick restart of the launcher fixes it.

Looking forward to future enhancements...

See when I do that all I get is the box pop up that says "Complete action using... Home or Launcher Pro"

When that happens just check the box "always use" and then click launcherpro. Thus will make it default.

I have no issues with docking. No FCs period........yet.

let me know if it starts hapenning with urs. and its not the dock itself, i have 2 and both do it. even after last nigths update it still fc's when docking alot.

Just installed LauncherPro on my Incredible and I'm really liking that you can go landscape with your screens (Sense doesn't do that) I have replaced the default icons along the bottom with the apps I use (ie handcent, dolphin browser etc) but it doesn't appear that the Handcent Icon will give me the small green circle with the number of unread messages I have like the regular icon would

am I missing something or is this just not supported yet

i dont believe that the dock supports widgets, so you will have to just use the regular handcent app icon, not the widget icon.
