Does anyone edit it in the build prop or leave it be. If so have you ran across and issues doing so?

I wouldn't do it. You can, but you sometimes get errors in play store (it thinks you're on an unsupported screen)

Use dpi modder pro, you can change and save the dpi you want. Also it will allow you to mod the play store and gsf so it thinks you have xhdpi or hdpi device
