My phone decided it wanted to go for a swim in river water. I turned it off immediately after it got wet, and tried to dry out everything as good as i could given the circumstances.

Basically now my phone turns on, gets notifications, and looks like it works fine, but the touch screen doesnt work. i was looking at digitizer replacement kits, but they're mostly combined with the LCD which makes it REALLY expensive. I dont need an LCD, just touch screen functioning.

im thinking of buying this:
Replacement Touch Screen Digitizer for Samsung Galaxy S3 s 3 III i9300 White | eBay
can i replace just the digitizer? all the tutorials destroy the screen and lcd but i dont wanna do that! :(

If you see the people in the vids destroying them, you'll probably destroy them too. I have no idea what your skill at repairing stuff is, but if I was going to post a video on how to do it, I'd probably want to be really good at it first.

With water there could be a multitude of things wrong also. Best thing when a phone gets wet is pull the battery. Put phone in a baggy of Rice and let it set for at least 48 hours, then put the battery in to boot the phone. If you replace the entire screen and digitizer it may or may not correct the problem. If you had Insurance file a claim.
