LEAKED: 2.1 Gallery

Just installed this and it's very cool, unfortunately my pictures are all very pixelated. No other galleries installed....any ideas or anybody else see this?

I think it has to do with patents and the gestures used with the multitouch. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Apple has patents on a lot of the multitouch interfaces (like pinch-to-zoom), and Google wants to make absolutely sure that they're clear in being able to use them, to avoid any potential lawsuits.

After all, Android is a serious threat to the iPhone, and Apple will do anything in their power to hinder the potential. ;)

This gallery is seriously sexy as hell. I think I'm gonna find myself taking a bunch of random pics just so I can sift through them. :D

Man this new gallery is sooo badass, I love how quickly the software and the os evolve on android.. almost everyday I get app updates(that actually improve performance), os updates, new badass apps, etc. its awesome because the phone never gets stale. Can't wait for official 2.1

im late to jump on the bandwagon!

DAMN! this gallery blows all the others away, well done!

I was surprised to see that the 2.0 gallery required tapping on the screen to move from picture to picture... to me, the 2.1 is the way it should have been from the get go. Either way, the OS and the phone rocks.

here you go... this will delete your old one if you have a rooted phone.

To remove the old gallery, (busybox required):
Code:
adb shell
$ su
# mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
# /path/to/busybox mv /system/app/Gallery.apk /system/app/Gallery.bak
# sync
# exit
$ exit

Nice write-up. Anyone that wants to do this direct on their Droid (without hooking to a desktop), can also install Root Explorer from the Market and do the following:

1.) Open Root Explorer
2.) Navigate to /system
3.) Click the Mount R/W button
4.) Navigate to /system/app
5.) Rename Gallery.apk to Gallery.bak
