I have been waiting for a decent phone on AT&T with my unlimited data. Yes, the GSII is nice, but lots of pros and cons. I am currently on a 3gs, and I don't use a lot of data. Can't really use a lot in my area, AT&T is not even HSPA+ yet and LTE is at least 18-24 months away (AT&T store comment). Verizon does have LTE in my area - amazing watching my friends phones perform.

Right now seems like a good time to switch, while I can't get unlimited I can get double the data and 4GB seems pretty good, even with LTE. I will have WIFI and work and home. Plus my I will be getting my daughter a smart phone and going Verizon will double her data.

I am really torn about this decision. I like HTC phones, and was waiting on the Vivid on AT&T but after looking at it and reading reviews this does not seem like a phone I want to be stuck with for 24 months. The Rezound looks great and seems to have the power to keep up for sometime. Any thoughts or advice would be very helpful. The Amazon deal is very tempting right now.

Thanks
Ed

If you use that much data then I'd say go for it especially with the double data deal. I mean I've always had unlimited data for the last 5 years and only topped 4GB twice and I've used everything from Blackberry, to iPhone to Android. So it all depends on you. I will say that usually when getting a new "toy" those first couple weeks you make experience a data surge because you're playing with your phone more but after that it should level off. But again, it's up to the user.

I say absolutely make the switch. Can't beat Verizon's network and 4GB of data should be plenty.

You'll never look back, made the switch three months ago and love LTE!!!

As always make sure to verify coverage before you switch. Remember once you loose your unlimited data you cant get it back.

If you're going to do it, now is a great time to do so :)

I agree with the others. If you want to make the switch do it now while you get a good deal!! :)

If I were in your shoes, I'd seriously consider. Unlimited data is something that you cling on to forever, because there's no way to ever get that back.
However, if there's no coverage in your area, and you don't plan on moving anytime soon, then go for it. I made the jump of Verizon 3G to 4G LTE on the Rezound, and the speeds are amazing!

You're in a rough situation. Personally I'd do it. Reason being I had a horrible experience with at&t when I tried them when the iPhone 4 came out. Their service was horrible in my area, do I switched back after 3 months and never looked back. Plus after using the iPhone I know I won't leave Android. I do have unlimited data which is nice, but if you don't use that much and are on wifi every chance you get it may be worth it.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I went to the Verizon store today to look at the Rezound - Wow, what a phone. No wonder people are returning the Razor for this phone. I was originally looking at the Razor but Rezound is so much nicer to hold.

I really hate the idea of giving up my unlimited AT&T data, but what is the point if it is still stuck in 3G world here. Now with the FTC moving to block the merger their LTE plans are now even further behind. My last thoughts are my lack of trust in AT&T and they could always just end unlimited data at any time. So I could stick around for 18-24 months and still lose my unlimited plan.

Thanks for you help. I think I am going to jump.

I'm sure you won't regret it, and jumping from the iPhone to Android you're likely to have a lot of questions. These forums are quite helpful, so don't feel shy ask away!

Not really true, I know someone on AT&T, left, and came back like a month ago and was able to get unlimited data using the og iphone trick. i won't get into it, but if interested, do a google search.

The fact that you call it a "trick" tells me that it is something outside of what is allowed by policy. It is only a matter of time before AT&T discovers and patches whatever glitch or loophole you exploited so you can't depend on it working in the future.

My statement stands... once something grand-parented in is gone it is gone.

I am in the same situation and this phone is one of three I am considering. AT&T is shady! Moreover, I think I will wait to see how the phone holds up over time...

If you want a new top end future proof phone for ATT then look at the Galaxy SII Skyrocket. The big thing is to check your coverage. When you first get the Verizon phone use Mickey's 90% rule - make sure you have coverage in 90% of the places you use your phone. I'm also a big Verizon Supporter - great coverage, I think their customer service is excellent (short hold times, they all speak English). Plus the Double Data promotion of $30 bucks for 4 GB is great. One other thing you have going for you now is the extended return period until Jan 15 2012. Good luck!

Plus you have the double data option still available if you switch. I got that so instead of 2GB you get 4GB for the same price.

I ordered Resounds for me and my daughters from Amazon. I would not have bought them such high end phones but for a penny they really made out. Plus these are their first data phones so while I lose unlimited data, they get double data. Also, while at the Verizon store they mentioned the Xoom tab was a BF sale for $199, and offered to hold one since they only had 5 in the store. So now I am a Verizon customer typing a message on my new Xoom. The phones will be here in a few days and I a sure I will be here a little more.

Thanks everyone for your help!

I would suggest getting the Rezound. It is far better than the Vivid. The Beats Audio is insane. Also the 720p screen is amazing too. How much data do you use each month?

Just out of curiosity what are your criteria for the statement that the Rezound is far better than the Vivid?
