LED colors

First time android user here. Anyone know exactly what the different notification LED colors mean? Couldn't find the answer anywhere in the manual. I see blue, green, yellow, red, sometimes they're blinking sometimes they're not. Any help would be appreciated.

From the Samsung site. In addition to this different apps have different colours blinking.
Blue:
· Pulses in multicolor blue while the device is turning on or off
· Blinks blue for a missed call, message, or other notification
· Blinks blue when recording voice

Red:
· Glows red when the device is connected to a charger and is charging.
· Blinks red when the device is connected to a charger but there is a problem with charging.
· Blinks red when the battery is low.

Green:
· Glows green when the device is connected to a charger and the battery is fully charged.

How without a third party app?

A third party app is needed. No root required. It does require the service to run in the background with an annoying non-dismissable notification :x

My WhatsApp notification is that color.

Yea looks like app needed. I swear for some reason i thought i remember changing the LED. Put im thinking of my other phone.

I have always used Light Flow from the play store and it always worked great. Not as good as previous models now. According to Light Flow Samsung changed how the light works and they have not figured out how to control the light. I sort of works but not perfect. I paid for the app a few years ago so I use their work around but I would wait till they solve the issue.

I used Light Flow years ago, but when I switched to the Moto X in 2013 I lost my LED I was very happy to have it back with the Note 5. After tweaking my phone to get hardly any battery drain I started adding apps, one by one. I can't have Light Flow disabled or put to sleep so I've let it run wild. Over the past two days it's been draining my battery though. I've been trying to find a setting(s) that would allow me to use it without crippling it. I'm ready to uninstall though.
