LED goes red/orange for 10sec.

Hi
My friend gived me and HTC One V and he said if i get it to work i can have it
He told me that one day when he woke up one day his phone was " Dead "
When i plug it in to charge LED ont the top goes red/orange for 10 sec and then it turns off
and nothing happends afterward and then phone doesn't respond to anything.
( If i try to connect it by USB to computer same thing happends )

If you have any idea what could happend pleae help me

It's the battery most likely. You can find then on eBay for like 5 USdollars but you have to disassemble the phone to replace it
