Left scroll from home screen shows irrelevant "news" items

Nokia 4.2 Android 10 - when I scroll left from the home screen I see a Google screen full of items supposedly of interest to me. I do not wish to see any of these. How do I disable them. Left of Google at top of this page is an update item.

I cannot see the Google News App in my all apps listing.

Google Assistant is turned off.

Long-press an empty part of the homescreen, then tap Home Settings, and turn off Swipe to Access Google App.
