Less-Functional Camera Interface ?

Just wondering if anyone else has observed this, or if I have a defective camera button.

When I launch the camera app using the app icon, I get the fully functional camera interface (see first screenshot). It has buttons for both photo and video, it has the Gallery photos icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, and if I hold down on the physical shutter button I get the continuous shooting functionality.

However, if I launch the camera (e.g., from a homescreen) by holding the physical shutter button, the phone launches a much less functional camera interface (see second screenshot). The video button is missing, there is no Gallery photos icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, and, most annoyingly, the continuous shooting function (holding the physical shutter button down) doesn't work!

I would expect the camera interface/functionality to be the same regardless of whether I launch the app via the touchscreen or the physical button. Am I missing something? Does anyone's/everyone's phone behave the same way?

Thanks

I just noticed this last night as well. Not sure why this is...BUT...i may prefer this.

I find when i use the physical shutter on the normal camera interface i end up taking 4-5 pictures which gets tiring.

When i launch with the shutter, its as if they know that i will be using the shutter and one shot will suffice.

My continuous shooting button works fine when launching from the dedicated camera button. Strange that you are experiencing it as deactivated.

This is weird. I launched the camera by holding the shutter button, and I am getting the full camera options.

the plot thickens.

I could've sworn this is how mine did it first day...but now i have the reduced one.

Hmm.

The only difference is i downloaded vignette and they asked which camera default i wanted for the operation of holding down the shutter and i picked stock. I think thats when it changed.

I've noticed this too, but really haven't played with it enough to figure out a conclusion. Don't mind it though.

I just tried launching the camera by holding the physical shutter button, and got the full menu:

I tried to see if there's some sort of setting that can change the behavior of the available buttons, but couldn't find anything.

I think you are correct, since it seems you downloaded something and the rest of us didn't is the reason we all get the full menu of options no matter which way we go into the camera.

I haven't used any effects, but I've noticed that going from lockscreen directly to camera will bring up the simple interface. Otherwise, it's full interface with everything else.
