But someone like him that's getting 205 down on LTE what kind of speed do we think he'll get on 5G albeit sub6

5G speeds are dependent on what system. Verizon should be fastest, using the highest frequency (up to 10GBps) and MMwave not available on the S20 until sometime this summer. However, it has the lowest coverage and hot great at penetrating building (almost line of sight). T-mobile is into low band frequency (about 100+MBps) which has the best penetration of buildings and greatest coverage area.

Similar to a dual band router. The lowest band (2.4Ghz) is the best for component many walls away from the router, but speeds will be lower; whereas, the 5Ghz has been speeds but cannot penetrate or travel as far.

Where I live, you guys east of the MS may have 6G before I ever see 5G.

As for 4G it is getting better all the time and is not going anywhere for a long time.

I get 200+ down on lte in some spots around me in bfe Michigan. I doubt I'll see 5g on this phone, probably not even on the note 20. I'll just be happy to get tmo 600mhz band around my house.

Yeah I get around 161 mbps down in my area in LTE I'm hoping to get a little faster on the s20+

I get 200+ down on lte in some spots around me in bfe Michigan. I doubt I'll see 5g on this phone, probably not even on the note 20. I'll just be happy to get tmo 600mhz band around my house.

Sub6? Slightly better, or the same. MmWave is where the real speeds are.

Yeah def where the speeds are but with lots of build out required. For someone like me on the tmo network, I'm hoping that post merger we will be able to take advantage of the midband that sprint has been building out.

Yea, I’m with Rogers in Canada, and they chose the Sub6 rollout first. Coverage still isn’t great. I may just not even use 5G on my Ultra when I get it, as the LTE speeds on Rogers are pretty good. I don’t think 5G is worth the battery hit until mmWave is deployed everywhere.

Agreed. I'm also on Rogers though in Calgary they haven't rolled out 5G at all. I get decent speeds with LTE so I'm not concerned about it.

My TMobile 5G speedtest is about the same as LTE. Around 150Mb down and 35Mb up. So far the difference I see is during peak times, 5G is holding up speed better. Likely because there's so few people using it. Unfortunately, TMobile users won't see the big speed improvements until they include Sprints 2.5Ghz band in their 5G portfolio. I'm not counting on mmwave being real world useful in a handheld device anytime soon.

You are doing much better than I am. The only time I came close to your speeds was at my house at 1 a.m. (166 down, 52.8 up). At home now (6 pm) I got 33 down 39.5 up. Outside Costco today, with full bars, I got 1.09 Mbps down and 3.8 up. A test inside Costco gave me about the same speeds down but the upload test failed. To be fair to T-Mobile, though, none of the carriers seem to do well in that Costco (I've used AT&T and Verizon there, both had issues, as well).

Despite the relatively slow speeds, in some of these areas I've had issues running on LTE (such as at that Walmart) seemingly because of "congestion." While the 5G is slow, it is usable because (as you mentioned) there are so few using it. I'm looking forward to see how it improves as they start using Sprint's spectrum.

Here is my 5g speed test results. I get about the same results for LTE. I switched from Sprint to T-mobile to test out the 5g speeds for Des Moines, Iowa. I have ran multiple tests at various locations on different parts of town and am getting about the same results at each location for both 5g and LTE.
