Not bad for 73 years old, huh! That and a whole bunch of Lionel is being passed to a new generation, generations later.

I dug it out of my basement and it had not seen the light of day in 40 years. That was part of my original set. I subsequently added this. An image captured from ebay. I did not unpack all of the other STUFF. Cattle car, log car, coal car milk car, and the list would keep going.... All going to my grand nephew down in LA!

@GENDO667

I have no doubt Simon would love this. Hopefully, my Grand Nephew will, too. Although, at the moment, my sister (who was not allowed to play with my trains way back when) is threatening to keep them herself! :)

Starting to feel a little christmasy today.

Very nice!

Who did the paintings on the wall? I like them -- they have a Van Gogh quality.
Jill Louise Campbell. An artist based out of Salt Spring Island BC. Most of her work is based on local people and scenery.

What scale are they? I can't tell from the pics. I vaguely remember my dad having a small set that used oil to create smoke from the locomotive, but don't remember exactly how small it was. I think it must have gotten lost in a move, as I don't think I saw it again after we left Arizona. I think I only saw it once or twice to begin with.

I believe O gauge. Pretty large and that engine is heavy. Still in transit to LA. Well, it is supposedly there but delivery date keeps changing. Five boxes. I warned my sister that it will be a giant jigsaw puzzle. I also noticed looking through one box that some of the insulation on wires is brittle. That can probably occur after 40 years in the basement and 70 years overall.

My other engine and transformer - both pictures grabbed from Ebay offerings. The stream engine and transformer were both originally part of my "starter" set 70 years ago.
