This is peripherally related to my Pixel Photos.

I guess I need to know how Google Photos or MS' Onedrive deal with backup and sync.

I occasionally hear about incidents of files disappearing when syncing. While I want my photos backed up. I guess I don't want them syncing if that means that if I might delete either accidentially or purposely from one location, say my phone, I don't want that action to be immediately mirrored to the backup. I don't want the SYNC process to determine "He erased the photo from his phone - that means he does not want it and correspondingly deletes if from the "cloud" (backup copy). I occasionally see a message from OneDrive that it mirrors the action. NO!!! Just because I thought I was freeing up space on my phone or laptop, does not mean I want to discard the backup/cloud version.

Am I making myself clear. And I'm asking here because you folks are pretty damn knowledgeable. So for either Google or OneDrive (or similar backups), I want backups but I don't want them mirrored, therefore erasing the backup because I erased another copy.

In Google Photos, the main thing to be aware of is when to use the Delete button (with the trash can icon) and when to use the Delete from Device option (which is in the context menu of each photo). The main Delete button will move all copies into the trash (which can still be recovered for 60 day), so use that only if you're sure you want to get rid of that photo completely. If you just want to get rid of it on the phone to save space, then select the photo, tap the Menu button, and select the Delete from Device option. It'll be safe in the cloud.

After owning the Pixel 6 Pro for 4 months and taking a fair amount of photos, my impression is that while it takes incredibly detailed, sharp, and dynamic photos, it pulls too much out of shadows sometimes, and leaves photos with an unnatural look, even day time photos almost look like a fill flash was used. I am starting to miss my LG G4 for photos. The Share feature feature is also a bit cumbersome.

I should have added that I also subscribe to Microsoft 365. This is an incredible bargain at $69 annually and you get all of Microsoft Office and 1 Terabyte of OneDrive online storage.

And I buy the family pack from Amazon for up to 5 accounts for just £45 when it is on a deal like Prime Day or Black Friday

When the park is named for a water feature that is what the photos have to show. Wallace Falls State Park, WA.
