So, stock browser is meh.

I had Skyfire, but recently did a factory restore without backing up apk's, so now I'll have to pay for the video aspect of it.

I would LOVE to run Firefox mobile, but it has no ARMv6 support, and no plans to fix that.

Dolphin never really impressed me.

What else is out there that's worth running?

I use both Miren and Opera Mini.
Mini the most.
I stopped using stock because it would kill my phone memory and i would have to always go in and clear data.

What's wrong with Dolphin? They have an HD and a mini version, the mini is pretty solid, I like it a bit better than Opera (which is also a good browser).

I came from HTC phones and IMHO their browser is awesome so I never understood using a 3rd party browsers. After using vanilla I learned very quickly why they are popular on other phones. After playing with every browser you can imagine (and some you can't) I've decided dolphin mini is the one for me. I even use it on my nexus over dolphin HD. It's light, quick, small footprint, and extremely intuitive to use.

If I own another HTC phone I'll probably just use their stock browser but until then, mark me down as a dolphin mini fan :)

I've never really liked the stock browser, and both Opera Mini and Dolphin are good browsers. I prefer Dolphin Mini on my phone though, because it feels alot smoother and is much less of a memory hog.

have you tried reinstalling skyfire? it uses your imei or something to record that you've used the browser before they started charging and gives it to you for free for being a "loyal customer"
if you haven't tried reinstalling, try it

I use Opera Mobile and Miren. Miren works best on my WPDN and I use Opera Mobile most on my Optimus S.

It can be built to run on ARMv6. I didnt even know it existed until now and am going to try building it for the Optimus S. Wish me luck!

If you can get this to work, you would be awesome! Good luck man, keep us posted!

I attempted to do it but could not figure out how to get it to build properly. It doesnt help that the project wiki is useless and unhelpful. I keep getting this error:

Android NDK: Your APP_BUILD_SCRIPT points to an unknown file: /home/xbmc/android-sdk-linux_x86/mobile-browser-8167d57cab8e/jni/Android.mk
/home/xbmc/android-sdk-linux_x86/android-ndk-r4c/build/core/add-application.mk:110: *** Android NDK: Aborting... . Stop.

Im getting that error because ther is no jni folder or Android.mk file.

question? by switching to another browser do you have to delete the stock browser? and how to do it? by deleting it can you get it back (stock browser)

Another vote for Dolphin HD here.

coming from having had an iphone and developing for ios dolphin is the best browser ive come by.

Don't delete the stock browser. Some apps make use of it and deleting it will break them. I know from experience. Lol

you dont have to delete the stock browser to use another. Still running stock and dolphin hd on my phone.

tried dolphin, way to slow.
tried opera, much faster.
tried stock, it's OK.

try them all and see what flips your switch.

Dolphin works great for me. I also like that i can import bookmarks from my desktop browser. Never been slow for me. And you can change your User Agent very easily.

Opera Mobile was pretty good, and they have a sync option as well that you can just log into.

I dont like the mini versions because they always seem to point to the mobile site by default on my phone. Opera mobile did this on certain sites too.

I tried the Fennec v6 build before they stopped development and it was dead slow. Couldnt do anything.
This is gonna be a personal preference thing though. I loved Opera on my dumb phones and on my blackberry but im split between it and Dolphin on Android.

Ninesky Browser ftw. This little unknown browser is FAST and supports plugins. Give it a try. You won't be sorry.
