My wife and daughter are very happy with theirs. Battery life seems ok. 2.2 isn't on the Ally yet, and I don't see it on the schedule either. But it already has all five home screens, tho' no Flash. So that's the only deal breaker to me, when is Flash/2.2 coming to it? If it's not a deal breaker to you, these really are nice phones.

No news on Froyo yet but it doesn't really matter given that it is an entry level device. The speed boost with the apps and the ability to save apps on the SD card would be nice but not a deal breaker. This far there aren't many apps that are Froyo specific so they have time. Hopefully we will get an upgrade by the end of the year...

I am concerned about the web browsing, as I've just discovered that the htc sense interface resizes and centers upon pinch and zoom....and that this feature is not on all android phones.....

I'm pretty sure any device running Android 2.1 or higher has the pinch to zoom browser, I know my ally sure does!

I get about 14 hours of moderate usage on my ally, not terrific, but not awful either.

The HTC Sense capability to resize when using multi-touch is part of Sense UI. All others have pinch/zoom but not the resize capability.

Confirmed, only Sense devices have this feature (at least as of now). The Ally web browser is nice but it is just the same stock browser that you find on the Moto Droid on 2.1
