LG doesn't seem to want to win

Well, if you think about it, the second faux lease of N7 recall life bridged to the LG launch. The Note 7 was banned and killed last week. Still a million using theirs, since no near equivalent until the V20. Pixel ain't an equivalent compared to the V20.

For those who loved the Note 7: just get an S7 Edge, it's the same exact phone but with an S Pen and slightly better design. The LG V20 is a completely different design than what they have been doing in the past years. They want to make sure everything is in working order and going through quality checks (unlike the Note 7). I'd rather make sure they do it right than rush it like they did with the G5's poor manufacture quality. And Google Pixel? To me, the Google phones are boring. Not only does it resemble an iPhone product, they are going in the same direction as Apple (focusing on their name brand and removing the favorite Android features like SD card slot). I like to have a physically removable battery and an SD card for physical storage. The LG V20 is the last true Android fan's phone.

Also, this is why you have a back up secondary phone. I'm using my $30 Moto E 2nd Gen, originally Verizon but "unlocked". Should serve me fine until I get the V20.

Nope S7E, I knew the N7 and he was my friend- you are no N7.

-7% smaller display
-Twice the curve of the Note 7, making the actual flat legible surface a 5.2" device at best
-Distortion of games, video, web, books, comics, etc. The distortion due to the curve is not good.
-Curve is problematic with some apps and games. N7 fixed that issue.
-Half the storage
-Even harder to protect due to more pronounced curve.
-Apparently no GPU heat piping like the N7
-No hardware display scaling

The only thing IMO the S7E has going for it is one hand use.

IMO the V20 is a far better device for the money and a genuine 5.7" flat surface rather than a distorted 5.5" that is really 5.2" due to the curve. Plus the V20 has better drop resistance, sound quality, twice the storage and replaceable battery. I'll take the apparent 15% battery hit over a sealed battery :)

For folks that like the S7E- cool, but please do not call it the same exact phone sans the pen. It is not.

I hope LG find some success with V20, but the pricing is gonna be a problem, it is tough if you price the device same as the best selling device in the market or above it when you dont have a market at all... I am waiting for its Indian launch, but if it priced same or above iphone 7 or Pixel it will not sell at all!!! Pixel is struggling for the same reason in India for pricing it close to iphone 7!!!

Having a backup phone is always a smart plan. I've always had one until my Nexus 5 died recently... So now I am flying solo! Scary! Haha.

There was an enormous opportunity for LG with the v20s primary competitor, the note 7 being out of play. Quite literally a couple MILLION people suddenly and unexpectedly needed new phones immediately, and the replacement they all want is much like what LG is ready to launch. With LG stumbling recently, and not having success with some prior releases it seems unbelievable that they would have not better taken advantage of Samsung’s predicament.

As a note 7 user, if this phone was released even a little early, I would have gone for it. If there was some messaging from LG directed at me, I may have gone for it. If there was a special promo I would have gone for it. What makes it even more painful, is that the v20 seems like it was announced months ago at this point, yet it is still not available.

I am not saying an early release would not have logistical challenges, (although VZ seems to be doing it a week early without too much issue) but literally with every day passing people are going to trade in Note7s and the vast majority need a new phone, right then, right now. Reasonable people are not willing to walk around with a Note7 while they wait for the v20 to launch. Can you imagine how many people have already got an s7edge as a replacement because it was all they could get that was even remotely comparable???

iPhone 7 inventory is becoming more available every day and the Pixel is ready to ship tomorrow or Friday. The window of opportunity is quickly passing. LG will sell a lot more v20s than they would have without the note7 debacle, but the opportunity to sell millions more seemed to have been missed, by 2 weeks.

As it stands now, I will have my Pixel XL this weekend and one of the primary reasons I went Pixel is that I can get it before I can get the v20.

My V20 was ordered Monday and arrived today. Just saying.

How's battery life, camera and the speaker?

Battery life so far has been great - Doze works great on this device, much better than the Note 7. I went to bed last night with 70% and with the second screen on, and woke up this morning with 68% after 8 hours. The speaker is very loud and clear, way better than the Note 7. The only part of the phone I haven't played with yet is the camera. I'm sure it is on par with the Note 7, so I have no concerns there.

I am really enjoying the second screen, and the display is super bright - I can't tell that it is an LCD. It almost looks like an AMOLED as the blacks are deep, and the rest of the colors are vivid.

I was hesitant to move on the LG V20 as I was never a fan of their UI as well as their build quality, but the UI on the LG V20 is very light, and I am running the Google Now Launcher and it feels almost like stock Android - do delays, stutters or lags. The phone feels well-constructed and feels great to hold in the hand.

I don't regret the purchase, and for me, this is better than the Note 7 as I never really used the S Pen. Also, the second screen is much more functional than the edge screen. You can't go wrong with the LG V20.

Im kinda happy they suck at Promoting their phone....ATT is giving me a hard time preordering this device while i hold on to my Grenade 7 so at-least i can definitely get one on day 1 lol

It is, lol! I'm currently flying solo with an Asus Zenphone 2 that AC loving handed to me last year and its been getting me by nicely believe it or not!! ....which is why although I want to get the V20, I'm kind of holding out to see some customer hands on reviews here on the boards of the AZ3D. So for now....either v20 t-mobile branded or AZ3D US unlocked for me.

AT&T doesn't seem to want to win either. None of their customer service reps seem to have a good answer as to why the V20 is nearly $150 dollars more than on VZW.

Because many of is will pay it, that's why. Mine should be there from Them next week.

All four major carriers are offering some kind of promotion, or competitive pricing, in addition to LG offering a headphone promotion with the V20.

Whether the promotion or competitive pricing is best for you depends on what kind of phone you would have for trade-in, and if the carrier will accept the trade-in.

In my case, I have an old S4 that I will use as a trade-in with AT&T, and get 200 dollars off the 830 V20 price they are offering, which would effectively make it a 630 phone for me.

Verizon offers the V20 for 672, but wouldn't give me a trade-in value for the S4. Odds are good that the phones Verizon will accept for trade-in, you could probably get a better price on Ebay. There in the case of Verizon, the reason to go with them is because the 672 is the most competitive price without a trade-in.

T-Mobile and Sprint have similar or variations of those deals.

T-Mobile has already started shipping the V20s, AT&T will start shipping in a few days.

If someone is coming from a Note 7, I would not use that as a trade-in, but simply get a refund, and then decide what to do with the proceeds

Just my two cents

AT&T has always been more expensive then the other carriers, and what's worse is they then sell the device in their crappy branded box.

Well, not only that, but there's inconsistency. Why aren't all retailers releasing on the same day? Sprint, I have to wait another week and a half. I mean, I will, but it would nice to get this stick of Samsung dynamite off my hands asap.

I was wondering about this too and when I spoke to my TMO rep he said that they can release it as soon as they get it because they are the 'uncarrier', no CLUE what that means but take it for what it's worth....

So, if I got mine on AT&T next (pre-ordered), how do I go about getting my $200 off again?

Got a shipping notification from AT&T last night as well as a bunch of other people. Mine should arrive later today. Looks like LG stepped it up after all.
Now if only my damn Pixel XL world arrive already too that would be great. I even ordered as soon as pre-orders opened up. My shipping status has it sitting in CA since Wednesday. Smh.
