Hello! I am completely new to the tablet and android world. I have a dumb phone and an old laptop! After doing much arduous research and learning whatever I can through reviews and youtube I have narrowed my choice to a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 or the LG G Pad 8.3 GPe. Any input from more seasoned users would be great! I am attracted to these two tablets for their similarities in the processor, size, speed, resolution etc... but I am concerned about the different operating systems. How much better is the kitkat vs the jelly bean and is it possibly a deal breaker for the note?

Thanks for any input and advice!

Between these two, I would definitely go with the G Pad unless you are extremely invested in note taking and Samsung gimmicks. The Snapdragon 600 is still blazing fast, especially on stock Android, and Touchwiz lags a lot. If anything, I think your best choices would be the G Pad or the Nexus 7 (Still awesome).

Between these two I'd get the G Pad but personally I'd get the Nexus 7 2013. The Note isn't bad, but TouchWiz holds it back :-\

I concur with these guys here. GPad for sure. The Note is older, as well. But stock Android is the way to go for me. It's clean and runs very well.

Ditto, G Pad. However I would also recommend looking at the LG version over the GPE edition. Its cheaper and there are a few custom roms available for it.

I had the Note 8.0 and really liked it. The brightness and screen clarity was amazing! I had a hard time with the physical home button smack dab in the middle of where I held the tablet, no matter which orientation. Tried a 2nd Gen Nexus 7 and liked it too, but I was already used to the extra screen real estate the Note had, and the sd card slot. The G pad was my next choice, and after several months my best choice. I now have both the G Pad and the G Pad GPE and can't make up my mind which one to keep. I guess I'm waiting to see if LG is going to update the original G Pad soon. If not, I'll keep the GPE. Both G Pads are a blast to use.
