LG G2 - Broken Screen Phone Access?

I downloaded the Android File Transfer app, but it doesn't recognize my phone as being plugged in to the computer. How do you get a phone (LG G2- Verizon) into MTP mode? I have absolutely no use of my screen at all, since it it cracked on the top and bottom right corners. Thanks in advance for your help!

Just hook any mouse, with micro to usb adapter, through your USB port and it will
access the screen.

My phone fell and the screen cracked and now i can not use the touch screen I tried plugging in the mouse but my phone does not read it. I have an LG optimus G phone. Does anyone have any suggestions I need to dowbload my pictures and contacts?

MTP = Mac Transfer Protocol? the screen is so broken that i can't do "anything" on the phone screen; how do i switch the phone to MTP mode?

Im sry but MTP does not mean Mac Transfer Protocal it means Media Transfer Protocal which was introduced by Microsoft to transfer media between early MP3 players and pocket pc

ok. so while impatiently waiting to go purchase a usb mouse, (with an unresponsive shattered screen on my LG LS970) I went into recovery mode... for no logical reason what so ever, and now im stuck!

1. Please, PLEASE tell me there is a way outta this?!? Ive pulled the main battery alone for a few hours, then tried it along with the backup battery for both short and extended times spans. I have also tried many different button combinations, even download which I was able to get out of.

Considering #1 is solved...
2. Is the mouse ok if it has the red sensor instead of the older manual / roller type? Or does it need the old ball style.

3. Also what about an usb wireless mouse with the usb transmitter / receiver plug?

You need a USB OTG adapter. You can order it online. Even a cheap one will work (about $3). You also need the wireless mouse. It doesn't matter how it works as long as it has a wireless USB receiver. Search YouTube for "Retrieve pictures & files from an LG G2 with a smashed screen" to find out how to do it. Hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for the reply... and just to clarify i'm workin with a LG LS970 aka Optimus G with a shattered and completely unresponsive screen that is stuck on/in 'recovery <e>' screen/mode. (i have pics with/of my six year old son that are of great value to me but i cannot afford a new screen any time soon). And i have confirmed that the "select" option is a screen soft key selection (cant remember which one settings/menu or home) of which is unresponsive. I do have a USB to MICRO USB connector that connects a keyboard to my tablet (even tried with the keyboard) that i used and have tried a wireless USB mouse and one with a cord. Neither one worked, and the red light/sensor does not light up when plugged into my phone. So i am concerned that they are not the old style with the 'ball/roller', inwhich most stores no longer carry, which doesnt need to be powered. And i am limited as i have paid and closed out my credit card accnts so online purchases are out for now. So until i can get ahold of one I am left driving myself nuts wondering.
Is there any confirmed luck using a mouse while stuck on this screen / in this mode? Ive seeen that it works otherwise but nothing in this mode... or better yet, is there another way?

To get off all your data you can actually get something called USB on the go or sometimes otherwise called USB OTG. This cable plugs into the LG G2 charging hub and allows for a USB connection. You can connect a wired mouse to that USB hub and automatically a mouse will show up where you can use it to unlock the screen. Once the screen is unlocked it is easy to plug in your mobile device to a PC and retain all the information by changing the device to a mass storage via the drop down menu on your phone.O

I also had this problem and solved it by using a USB TO GO cable and a USB mouse. You can then use the wireless shared storage once unlocking with a mouse. Tip: click and drag works like sliding/dragging your finger on touch screen.

Now that's what I call creative thinking! I broke my screen as well and the bottom 2/3 touch no longer works. I tried just about every trick I can think of using the top options in the notifications drawer but couldn't really do much until I read this.

I was so upset when I went to verizon and they told me I would not be able to retrieve my pictures or contacts and I only had the phone for 8 days before I broke it. After reviewing this site I went with the idea of finding the usb OTG cable, the only place in Tampa that carried it in store was tiger direct but what a life saver it was. I was able to go all over with the mouse connected and then verizon had no problem transfering to my new phone. Thanks for your information.

if you can still see images on your phone purchase an usb otg cable and connect a mouse to your phone. it works the same way. i purchased mine from amazon for $1.50 and received free shipping. worked great and came in about 2-3 days. so charge up your phone and find a computer mouse.

I did the same thing - use a USB adapter to connect a mouse or keyboard. I used the mouse to point and keyboard to type things easier. But I just bought the one that has 1 port, so I had to switch back and forth. I'm not sure if the multi-port ones will work. The cost is cheap if you already have the keyboard/mouse...about $5 or $6 at a local computer store.

go download an app called button savior and one called ultimate rotation control this will allow the phone to be flipped completely upside down and should give access to lockpad this happened with my lg og this stupid new tech lg introduced in the og is crap who sticks the glass and digitizer/lcd panels together its stupid causes way more screen breaks than any other design its the worst idea in the history of screens if you ask me
