LG G2 Heating Up. Why?

Hello Everyone/Anyone,
I just got an LG G2 (T-Mobile), unlocked. I received a msg from T-Mobile of a free system update, which turned out to be KitKat (latest version, I guess). After this update, I noticed the phone would get pretty warm in the upper back area of the phone (camera area). Has anyone else experienced this "heating up" of the phone? Maybe I'm overreacting, but, I have read some "horror" stories about the phone's performance after this update. Excess battery drain, apps not functioning properly, and the like. I like this phone tremendously, and would hate to send it back. But, if there are going to be multiple issues with it, guess I'll have to. Can anyone help?? Thanks!!

What was the phone doing when it heated up? It's normal for devices to heat up when doing something processor intensive, like installing a system update, installing lots of apps or app updates, or playing lots of games.

Hey, thanks for the reply B. Diddy! Well, I did notice how warm the phone was "after" the update. I was also using Wi-Fi afterwards, since I haven't got my new SIM card yet. I only downloaded two apps while using Wi-Fi. So, maybe the combination of the two activities made it heat up. If there's no SIM installed, does the phone constantly "search" for a network connection? I thought that might cause it to heat up, also. Anyway, in your opinion, is the KitKat upgrade a good one for this phone? I'm just a stickler for things working properly. I don't claim to know a "whole" lot about smartphones, except what I read on the net and my own hands on experience. This is my "first" top-of-the-line phone, and I want to have a good experience with it. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

That's a good question--I'm not sure if the cell radio will be active and searching for signal without a SIM card installed. You could test by turning on Airplane Mode, and seeing if it still heats up like that. You can still turn wi-fi back on once Airplane Mode is on.

I don't have any direct experience with KitKat on the G2, but I haven't seen many complaints on this forum.
