On mine, there is a pre-installed app called "Sprint Worldwide"
I think that has all the info you need.

sprint worldwide is just their information on where & how to roam & pay $$$. I need an unlocked phone that I can use as I travel & buy local sims. so what I really want to know is, is there a sim slot in sprint version & has anyone tried to get it unlocked. something similar to the htc one.

It has a sim card slot, I think all LTE phones need a sim card. I don't know what Sprint's policy is on unlocking.
