LG G2 - Stock email app: Yahoo email issue

Googling I'm finding that this seems widespread over the last year or two, but not sure if there is a true resolution so I wanted to see if anyone here is seeing the issue too.

Over the last month or so for no reason I'll get a message on the notification bar saying that one of my Yahoo email accounts "failed" because it needed "authentication". I'm using the stock email (which I like and don't want to change). I've deleted the two accounts it randomly happens to, but the issue keeps popping up.

Has anyone else seen this, if so, were you able to fix it? Seems most folks online have been blaming Yahoo for the issue. Which I tend to agree with at this point since so many different brand of phone users have this happen.

Any thoughts?

update: What's strange is I was able to send an email to the address that has the issue and I was able to reply just fine as well. This is so random. I might add that one of my other Yahoo emails was doing this 2 weeks ago and it stopped having the issue recently.

I've had this issue from time to time, seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. Usually I swipe away the notification and it will go away for a couple days till it pops up again.

I've seen this on a couple other phones I've owned, so it's not just an LG G2 thing: Yahoo mail will claim your account/password was bad, sometimes several times in a row. If you just ignore it, it will start working again on its own without needing to do anything.

I've seen this on my former HTC One's stock mail app as well as the LG G2, so I think the problem is on Yahoo's side.

On a side note I've been getting occasional 'Google Play Services has stopped' messages, and I noticed I always seemed to get one whenever I added or removed an account from the stock mail app, so I removed my occasionally cranky Yahoo e-mail account from it (got the Google Play Services has stopped message) and so far I haven't seen another one since then. It may be coincidence, but we'll see.

The same thing happens on my Note 3. I removed the Yahoo account and downloaded the Yahoo mail app. All is good now.

Sent from the baddest device on the planet, it's for real.

I agree with the above posters, Yahoo mail is usually the culprit not the device. Yahoo is been making a lot of changes to there app and I think things get broken here and there

It's not the yahoo app that is to blame though. It is yahoos servers or whatever, when using the stock android email app. Happened on my nexus 4 all the time.

Now on my G2 I just didn't like the stock email app, so downloaded the yahoo app, and frankly, it's a lot nicer, especially since they upgraded it.

Went a while without the issue. Today it's resending me 4-5 of the same emails over an over again. Thanks Yahoo. :(

Both my husband and I have the LG G2 purchased in the last two weeks. Both of us are having the same issues. Once we delete emails they automatically come back into the in folder as new. I've tried every different way of deleting them. Actually read them and hit the trash icon, marked them as read and then hit delete, deleted them as unread, we've tried EVERYTHING! It stopped doing it after the first week but for the past three days now I have 5 messages that keep getting put back in my inbox. I need this fixed as I need to install my work email on the phone and I'm not going to deal with this for my professional account as well.

Any suggestions???
