Could I invite any mathematicoids among us to calculate what would be that screen diagonal which, with a 1440p display, would give about 450ppi? This standard gives very high viewing quality and it's obvious that the 1440p technology would really come into its own when used for large display sizes, such as on phablets and tablets.

It's more like 550ppi, 450 is about what 1080p screens have. It looks gorgeous according to most reviewers

Re: 1440p/450ppi

Yes, but what I mean is (perhaps clumsily expressed) how big could a 1440p display be, such that it would give about 450ppi? The 538ppi of the G3 is arguably unnecessary, and the 1440p technology could perhaps be more usefully applied to larger displays.

I believe one of the new Samsung tabs has the same resolution

If I have done my sums right, a 16:9 1440p display with 450ppi would 6.5" on the diagonal.

Re: 1440p/450ppi

Thank you. That means we could have an outstandingly good 6" phone display, or a very good 7" tablet display. I'm sure that manufacturers are already working on something.

Re: 1440p/450ppi

Well I don't understand that. Perhaps with the 3/32 version they throw in a load of extra pixels.
