LG G3 feels sluggish?

So, it's been a week since I got my AT&T G3. I had HTC M8 before, and G3 feels a lot more sluggish / slower. It seems like its lagging when opening / closing apps. Default messaging app takes a second to open and same when trying to read messages. I installed textra, which speed it up, but the in / out animations just look ugly. I have animations set at 1x in developer options, at .5x it literally hurts my eyes.
Am I the only one with this issues or it's pretty normal?

Set the animations to 0 (no animation) if you want speed. Animations take time. And you can always run a faster launcher, if it's just the launch and "delaunch" times that bother you - some launchers are faster than others. (And keeping the launcher in memory, for those launchers that have the feature, means that closing an app takes almost no time at all - the launcher just appears to be the foreground app. Normally it takes time when you close an app before the launcher can appear - not much time, but 0.1 seconds is noticeable. (Which is one of the reasons using those "RAM cleaning" apps is such a bad idea. Android is built for speed, not for running with a lot of unused RAM like Windows - and that means keeping apps in RAM, so the more RAM being used, the better.)

Thanks for your reply!
When I turn the animations to 0 and if I close the text messages my screen flickers ... it's really annoying.
Another thing, it just crashed when I was trying to open a small PDF file to the point where I had to pull the battery.
What launcher is the best out there that might speed things up?

Try using the Google now launcher. I have been using it for a couple of months now and I can tell you I love it. Very fast and with the newest update to it you will feel like you are using a nexus, you get swipe to the left to go into Google now. You also get the material design and the same menu tray as the nexus. I would highly recommend this launcher.
