lg g3 under saturated

If you go to settings-accessibility, you can switch on color adjustment. You can experiment there.

The g3 screen has AMAZING potential.
Lg needed to give us those features (like Samsung adaptive display, cinema display, vibrant display) to change the colour saturation.
The accessibility colour adjustment isnt very good and the screen is equally as washed out.

Notice how much more vibrant and colourful the second screenshot is compared to the first.
This was done via photo editing and this proves the screen is capable of producing vibrant colours.
However, lg decided to only let us access washed out bland colours. Why?
There are more before and after screen shots I have added.

Aren't these things a matter of taste? I have both the G3 and the G4 and the latter has markedly greater colour saturation than the former. On the other hand, not everyone would regard that as a good thing.

I'm not sure, but I think you can increase the G3's colour saturation, if you're prepared to root.

How you do that, I don't know. But I seem to recall one of the rooting experts here saying that it could be done in that way. Hopefully, that expert, or another, will pass by and reveal all. :)

Washed out? I disagree. The screenshots that have been saturated look garish, and quite oversaturated as far as I'm concerned. I'm very happy with the display on my G3. It strikes a nice balance.

I agree. Although I find it sometimes to be a bit under saturated, for the most part it has more true to life colors than most phones. Especially compared to amoleds. Pictures and movies look "real" on the G3 rather than cartoony and over saturated.
I prefer the "before" picture in all of the above photo sets.

This is one of the things I've always wished phones had more options in though. I'd like to have a phone with the display adjustability of most tvs. White balance, saturation, contrast etc.

Do you need a custom kernel or something

I understand what you're asking for and although I tend to prefer the less saturated look, I have tweaked my own screen ever so slightly to give it a bit more pop while maintaining accurate colors.

That being said, here is how you can do this.

[WARN]You will need root access which you can read about all over the internet (XDA as well as some threads here).[/WARN]

If you have properly rooted your device, proceed to install a kernel tweaker capable of modifying the screen colors. I like Kernel Auditor.

I am not 100% sure that the stock kernel has the options to change these settings, but you will find out after loading up Kernel Auditor.

The settings you should modify are under the Screen tab: Saturation Intensity (default is 30?) Screen Value (default is 135?) and Screen Contrast (default is 135?)

Setting saturation any higher than 35 seems to over saturate to the point of distortion.
