LG G4 Charging Problem

Hi,

I have a G4 with a slightly faulty battery. The battery doesn't last long, about half a day. The battery died completely this afternoon, I have plugged it in to charge, it charges to 5% and the phone switches on, which is when the phone gets stuck in a reboot loop. I suspect this is because the battery dies again during startup.
Is there a way to prevent the phone from switching on at 5% or force it to shut down?

The LG G4 has a known manufacturing fault in the motherboard that can lead to a bootloop problem.
In this case, there is probably two problems here, including the battery.

Yeah, I've read about that. Not sure that is the problem though. After a few reboot attempts, the phone goes back to the charging screen and is on 0%.

Batteries for this phone aren't expensive.
I bought an oem battery and charging case for under $20.

You might try taking a fully charged *new* battery and installing it in the phone.
If the phone then works, great!

If the phone continues to bootloop there are now software solutions (turning off big cores) rather than replacing the motherboard.

Thanks, was hoping there was a way to test without buying a new battery, but that's probably my only option...or find someone else with a G4.

So I downloaded the zip file with the LGUP install packages, however when running the program I get a msg "No handset is connected". Has anyone experienced this or knows how to resolve it?

In reply to your first post I suggested charging a battery in an external charger.
Lithium batteries suffer when allowed to drop much below 20%

I hadn't seen that Reddit thread and find it somewhat confusing, but yes, that is what I would do if my phone bootlooped.
You dont say which model or carrier version you have....

Do you have the correct LG drivers on your computer?
If yes, this may point to a faulty usb port.
Again, parts are cheap and this phone is very easy to work on
