LG G4 : Pictures !

This is Charlie. She's a Cavachon. This is in auto and cropped.

She thinks she's a cat and chases light (and shadows) like it has treats, I am pretty sure a shot like this would have resulted in noticeable blur with my Droid Turbo camera (her head was moving all over the place).

A quick upload, because I inadvertently used flash to take this shot of a T our daughter tie-dyed. I steer clear of flash by rule, but I must've accidently touched the icon. So, here's a rarity:

Full Auto except for flash set to On. Taken in daylight. No editing.

Couple of pics I took while on vacation in wildwood nj last week.

Remember when I said the main reason I switched to the G4 was because of the M7's camera? Here's some.

(The M7 is running CM12.1, so there's no HTC ImageChip processing, but the issues still existed while I was using Sense, so it barely made any difference)

The top is taken by the G4. The bottom is taken by the M7. Both are left in Auto mode and I didn't fiddle with any settings aside from pressing the shutter.

(The G4 pic was saved at 90% quality because the original filesize is too large)

The M7 seems to have an exposure issue where it always seems to overexpose. It didn't seem to be an issue on my other phone running CM12.1 (Galaxy S3), so I'm betting that it's some sort of weird bug. Anyway, manually controlling the exposure seemed to help in these shots, but the purple tint still remained.

The flash also helped in one, but didn't remove the purple-tint.

I know it's unfair to compare a 2015 flagship with a 2 year old phone that has a defective camera, but for crying out loud, a Galaxy S2 can take better photos than this. So it should at least take photos that aren't complete utter garbage compared to the G4. Maybe I should take the M8 instead to compare it since that camera didn't suffer from the defect.

My coworker has the HTC one M7 also and have the exact same purple tint on his pictures. When I was looking up for him, I found that many others had the same problem. I think it is a defect on the HTC one. The main reason he bought that phone was because of the camera. I remember when he first got it, I was amazed on how much better the picture looks on his phone than my Galaxy Note 2.

I still think the S3/Note 2 takes better daylight pics but the M7 did take good low-light shots...before the purple tint.

Yes it was the low light ones. That's the reason I bought the G4.. for the low light pics. The G4 took better pictures in low light better than what my eyes could see!

The thing that is unfair is you are comparing to an M7 that is malfunctioning.

I had the M7 and the camera was awesome in my opinion

I just posted why I had to change my phone.

Had the camera not malfunctioned, then I would've sticked with it for a bit longer.

It did take nice photos when it was new, but apparently, the purple tint is a common fault with the M7.

Yeah, mine went purple, but HTC fixed it, and my mom still uses it.

My wife's never went purple, and her mom still uses it.

The way your post reads is that the M7 had a bad camera:

"I know it's unfair to compare a 2015 flagship with a 2 year old phone, but for crying out loud, a Galaxy S2 can take better photos than this. So it should at least take photos that aren't complete utter garbage compared to the G4."

See - you say it is unfair because it is a two year old model, but as I pointed out, the unfair point was that you were comparing a defective unit to a new, non-defective unit.

The M7 didn't have a bad camera, but the early models were prone to failure.

I actually wished I had a non-defective unit to compare it with.

It would be much more fair that way and the results would be much more favorable.

But oh well. I should probably reword how I said that, since the M7 actually had a good one, albeit lacking in detail if you squint a bit. Just wish mine didn't become a purple potato.

Edited and squared for of course Instagram.
