LG G4 stuck on Android is starting

i have the exact same problem with Samsung S7 Edge. It also started at about the same time. I dont think this is specific to phone model. It has to be some issue with recent updates to apps we all have in our same. Since I dont have ZEDGE on my phone, it has to be something ads-related that come with apps that are also in other apps I got in my phone or a problematic common Android system apps that ZEDGE and the app I got on my phone. Now, if only someone can identify what is that and I will uninstall the crap right away.

Same question. I still have one app that's causing an issue. Any idea how to figure out which one is problematic?

I ran with the theory mentioned by Watch Man and started uninstalling apps with ads, one at a time. In my case, the culprit was Smule.

Edit: I have two LG G4s, one AT&T and one Verizon. Uninstalling Smule was the immediate fix for both phones.

Edit 2: Reinstalling Smule caused the 15 minute "Optimizing Apps" issue happen again. So the root cause is not a jacked up installation. This further supports the ads theory.

Every time I reboot my LG G4 I get the Android is starting. Optimizing app 1 of 1... and takes about 15 minutes to finish each time.
I've tried booting into recovery mode to wipe the partition cache, but the phone won't seem to boot into recovery mode by Holding the Power button and volume down buttons on boot. It ignores it.
I've also tried using the adb reboot-bootloader command but it just reboots as usual with the only difference is that it displays a message saying: "Select enable OEM in the settings". Not sure what that means.
I have never rooted this phone.

I deleted a few different apps in one go and solved my problem, if you have any of these apps I'd suggest trying to delete them see if that helps:
1. Utorrent
2. Ookla speed test app
3. Dig it! By "Raketspel"
4. Rocket sky! By "kwalee ltd"
5. Chrome Remote Desktop by "Google LLC"

I tried many times, zedge wasnt the issue and i didnt have any of the other apps that have been listed on this thread. I hope this helps someone else as this was incredibly frustrating to figure out and communal support is our greatest strength =)

If you have the Android SDK installed on your computer (computer, not phone), here's a method to figure out which app is causing the problem.

1) Enable Developer options on your phone. https://developer.android.com/studio/debug/dev-options#enable
2) Turn on USB debugging in Developer Options.
3) After your phone is booted up, plug it in and "Always allow" usb debugging from your computer.
4) While the phone is still plugged in, reboot it.
5) While it's rebooting, issue this command on a terminal (Mac or Linux--Windows will be different): adb logcat 2>&1 | tee ~/temp.log

What you're looking for in the log is a line like this:

10-11 16:32:02.261 1216 1216 I PackageManager.DexOptimizer: Running dexopt (dex2oat) on: /data/app/com.kwalee.looper-1/base.apk pkg=com.kwalee.looper isa=arm64 vmSafeMode=false debuggable=false oatDir = /data/app/com.kwalee.looper-1/oat

Look for "Optimizer". In the log line above, the offending packet is "com.kwalee.looper". Note that this was specific to MY phone. Your package will probably be different. In my case it was a game called "Looper"

Uninstall the app.

The moderator removed the link above to the offending app (com.kwalee.looper, also known as "Looper"). I'll just add that you can find the name of the app by Googling for the package name. The Google Play store link will contain the same package name.
