LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of it?

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

you can't. if you haven't backed your data on your sd card, keep attempting. sometimes you can get a few minutes before it goes back in the loop. that's how i managed some of my stored stuff. but fixing it is probably something you can't do. don't trust that you have even if it seems to work fine cause it will fail. get it replaced. even that it's still a ticking time bomb.

This is extremely troubling to know how many other people have the same issue i have, considering that today it happened for a wonderful SECOND time. The phone they sent me a few months ago still had the defect!

I definitely agree, isnt there a legal obligation for LG to notify people and or issue a recall on the matter? I have never seen anything like this with any other electronic device in my life.

Are the replacement phones that LG is sending people now still with the issue or did they fix it with the new serial numbers, also?

I've no idea what they're doing, but from what I've read it's some sort of 'repair' to our original phones before returning them back to us (i.e. they're not replacements as such). I stand to be corrected though and would love to know for sure.

I sent my wife's off last Thursday but took a few photos of it & the insides beforehand just to see if it was the same phone that comes back.

Mine is a replacement that I got from Verizon. Most posts I've read are from people having the carriers replace the phones, not LG due to how long they'll have your phone.

Original serial number was 506, replacement is 512. Guess I'll know sooner or later if this one does the same thing.

Interesting point- the first time this happened they just sent a new phone, andi sent my old phone back. it was a totally new phone. when you got the phone back, was the data on the phone originally still there or was it erased?

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot, how can I get it out of if?

Am I the only one that finds it ironic that this started happening in large quantities after new year's?

I also spoke with LG Customer Service and same with me, they asked me to send them the phone without the back cover, or SD card or SIM card, just the phone alone that they would pay for shipping and I have to provide the box and that the process would take 7 to 9 business days.

This is sad to be honest because of the fact that I'm a big time LG fanatic. :(:(:(

LG has a policy (as does Verizon) to wipe the phone if they are able to get it working. LG replaced the motherboard, wiped the phone, and sent the original back.

Not to be confused, here's what I did (others won't necessarily go through this much)
I first contacted Verizon and they shipped me a "Like New" phone in two business days. Just before I got that replacement, I sent my original phone to LG. I wanted to ensure my data was erased and I didn't feel comfortable with the answers Verizon gave me on what their process was. The replacement Verizon sent me is so far working fine so I ended up keeping that phone. When LG returned my original phone (which they stated that is all they will do - repaired or not) I just boxed it up and sent that one, my original, back to Verizon. My data was no longer on my returned original phone. Verizon will only send you the replacement phone, you won't get your original back even if they get it working.

Most people will choose one method or the other, send to the carrier or to LG. I only sent my phone to LG because of the data issue. They told me it might take up to two weeks to turn the phone around and send it back repaired and that would have caused me to go to Verizon had I not already.

For U.S. consumers, there's only a legal obligation for recalls if it's a safety issue. I.e. If these phones were prone to catching fire in your pocket, posing burn risks. Frustrating as it may be for those affected, a phone going into boot loop wouldn't rise to that qualification. Here's some general guidelines around product recalls and defects. http://product-liability.lawyers.co...ct-defect-or-recall-whats-the-difference.html

Well the first time it happened to me was in late September, i think this might be coincidental although the second time was just now.

LG have admitted it's a hardware problem. I've linked the article about it here

The same thing happened to my phone about a month ago - had T-Mobile support decide it needed to be replaced. That's fine but unless you have JUMP they charge you a 20 dollar processing fee and if you want you phone quickly (before 7-10 days) they want t charge you a shipping fee of another 20.00.

North Korean President and his executive branch.......has something to do with the LG G4 getting stuck in a loop and we cannot even delete our information in the phone because it is stuck on the LG Android screen....just saying...you never know...cyber-war......there is alot of LGG4 phones has a issue all at the same time....kind of questionable....and there must be alot of important infomation on those phones (including my LG G4 phone), that we couldn't even open to erase or download our information from the phone. Because it's stuck on that LG logo ....you never know what's going on these days with all this electronic stuff...I know I must sound paranoid, but just saying my thoughts as it relates to this outstanding and unacceptable problem.....

wow ... are there also ghosts in your house?

Re: LG G4 Stuck on boot

Makes me wonder if we could see phones with removable flash drives. Phone bricked and need to send in for warranty? Pull the drive and maintain control of your data.
