Not in-ear? Most headphones go into the ear unless you get Headphones that just cup over the ears

Any pair of headphones will work. Being ear buds or cup style doesn't matter.

He might mean that he doesn't prefer the in-ear type that earphone fits so deep in his ears, different from the earbud type.
I also don't prefer the in-ear, so I bought the earbud type from Sony MH-410C.

I don't mind the ear bud type just for the better sound and ANC features I have a LG HBS800 and it is just awesome

Really helps in noisy airplanes lol

There is thousands of over the ear headphones with mic/answer buttons

Go search on Amazon and I'd stick with Sony, Skull candy, Bose (Really good headphones), RCA, Plantronics

Very strange, I tried with three different headsets, old nokia 5230, Samsung S4 mini, LG G2 mini, LG L7 II, and none of them work, I can hear but answer button does not work. I need headset only for calling, I know that for listening music I can use every headset.

I have a pair of Skullcandy crushers if I have to talk on the phone for long periods of times it has mic and remote buttons and works great on my LG-G4

Keep trying others and see if they work or try skullcandy
