It's locked to Verizon? Are you still under contract with them on the phone?

If you're no longer in Verizon's contract, or have a debt with them, it's not locked to their network. This is taken directly from Verizon's website:

We do not lock our 4G LTE devices, and no code is needed to program them for use with another carrier.

As far as bands and compatibility goes...

From my research, you can use the Verizon phone on other carriers, but you will not get 3G. For AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, it will allow you to use 2G and 4G. Interestingly, the Sprint phone will work on all Verizon bands. Weird, huh?
