LG G4 vs Samsung S6

My G4 hasn't heated up ever playing any games like my G3 has. Even streaming 1440p video for 30 mins doesn't phase it one bit. The only time I have ever felt it even get slightly warm and chew some extra percentage battery was when I have been editing some digital RAW photos with Adobe. (I'm sure it uploads them here compressed and crappy but here's a few I edited tonight.)

Wow nice pics. I am so glad the G4 doesn't heat up as much as the G3. I am so sick of my pocket heating up from my G3 and I noticed on the S6 demo, when pushed, the S6 gets quite hot too.

Nope. It's got a Exynos (Which I think is Sammy's own processor company, or a sub of Sammy) 7420 which is a 1.5 Octacore which is supposed to benchmark faster than the M9's 810. Some have said it's got heat issues just like the 810, so maybe that's why the person thought it had an 810.

If you want a bigger screen go for the G4. If you want something stylish and relatively compact/normal - S6.
I have a Note 3 and am eager to hear early reports of the G4.


Surely they will all be faster when new.
For me, "speed" doesn't come in to my equation.
My Note 3 with carrier free Touchwiz is fast enough for me now.

I just want a newer experience with an even better screen, future proofing and Lollipop friendly.
Sure I would consider the power of available flagship SoC's, and a decent amount of ram, to cater comfortably for ever hungrier apps and net speeds. As long as it doesn't freeze occasionally, transition speeds don't bother me ... at the moment ...

I tend to agree with the rest. I think most benchmarks suggest the S6 is faster, but in looking at the complete user experience in real world terms, I highly doubt anyone is going to regret the purchase or really notice the difference. I spent a long time on Windows Phone and no matter what your opinion of the platform (not looking for a fight) the fact is that it was more "fluid" with less lag on inferior hardware. I think specs can be overrated. I guess I kind of BELIEVE (or want to) the excuse / hype that the 808 is matched for the G4.

Windows Phone is a great example. Fast, fluid, smooth as can be. Good battery life too. It's just a pity that they haven't been able to get the developer support to make it a contender. Not that I'd switch from Android, but it'd still be nice to have a third big mobile OS to help drive everything forward. In any case, back OT - it's all about optimization of the software for the hardware. From everything we've heard, LG has done a good job with that this time around. Let's just hope it proves to have the legs to go the distance.

The S6 (810) does seem to heat up when pushed. Not sure about the G4 (808) as far as heat....

The S6 doesn't have a SD810. It has an Exynos 7420, which does not have heating issues but it still a lot more powerful than the 808

No heat or throttling issues. Not more than the 808 anyway

Please excuse me if I decline to know that. There are many aspects to a phone, and isolating one doesn't necessarily mean anything worthwhile. Speed may also result in excessive heat, for example.

But someone here probably will know the answer.

I totally agree. I've always gone by the premise that if it works for you, then it's the right device. Speed is one factor in choosing a device. But Speed kills, as the saying goes. I look at the overall performance of a device I choose. I consider all aspects of a device, the make my choice. If I choose just one aspect, it may not measure up in other areas.

Here is a review to look at both S6 and G4 performance. Not benchmarking, just your initial boot and moving around the screen.. Touch wiz has improved alot and I notice it alot on my S6 edge. I've never played with a G4, but hopefully soon.
