I've had my LG G5 since September, 2016 and the GPS hasn't ever worked properly. The GPS signal gets lost, somegimes within a minute of use. On top of that annoyance, the map doesn't keep up with where I actually am, and the notifications don't play out loud. Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you.

It's a common issue with LG phones. The GPS on my wife's old G5 was never right. And the G4 before that. I could be wrong, but I don't think there's a fix.

I've had mine for about 3 months now, and I haven't experienced any problems with the GPS. I don't use it every day, but have about 5 or 6 times, and it seems to work fine. If mine didn't work, I would try my carrier first, and then LG for a fix or replacement.

Yeah, the GPS on my G5 seemed fine, when I used it. My wife had all sorts of issues. It's not an every case scenario.

I use mine daily with Waze, and it never let's me down. I've have it for close to a year now and it's still going strong.

I upgraded the whole family to lg g5s last year (had lg g3s before that). 3 out of 4 have GPS issues. No more lg phones for this family!

Which version or model do you have? I have the LG-H820 from AT&T.

Hmm. I have the RS988 variant of the LG G5 and I'm constantly using the GPS (with Pokemon Go). I haven't noticed any issues.

I think it depends with apps. With Endomondo I get GPS going down for a while and it can be down for even 10 minutes or more. Google Maps never fail for me.

I have tried different settings and it could be that it is dependent on reception from the mobile towers as well for some apps.

Had kind of a weird issue yesterday on a trip. The voice was about a mile behind. I would be getting off of an exit, and be on the next road, and then I heard the voice telling me to take the exit. The picture of the map was keeping up fine. I was also hooked to android auto, so don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Update on my previous post on gps problems. i took my wife's phone in to a private repair shop today. I told him the problem and he said he'd never heard about the issue. I told him about the gps antenna connector issue solution I'd seen on the group and how bending the connecter gold fingers for a better connection was the recommended fix. He said he was willing to try. 5 minutes later and the phone had 16 of 21 satellites locked. I also told him about the failed power button on my phone. he said it could be the same issue. 5 minutes again and he had fixed the switch and also tightened up my gps connection as well. Total bill to fix two phones.....well lets say it was a lot less than than tank of gas! I'm taking the other 3 g5s on our family plan to him in the morning. I think my faith in LG has been restored!

That's inaccurate. I've had several LG phones and none had any issues. It's not common.

Okay. Just saying I've read many have had issues with the G4/G5. And I've experienced the problem myself which lead my to reading about others with the issue. I didn't say it was an every case scenario.

I have the Sprint G5 version and had issues with my GPS taking forever to lock and fix on satellites. When I did get locked sometimes I had error values of 1200ft. Then I started having issues with my LG bluetooth headphones dropping out when connected to G5. I reset the phone at least 3 times thinking it might fix things

Since I had insurance with Sprint they sent me a replacement phone. I had backed up my files and settings to my SD card. When I tried to import the settings the only thing it wouldn't let me import was the bluetooth settings. Now GPS fixes on satellites pretty darn quick within 15ft accuaracy in most cases.

So I believe there is either a firmware fix with new software or new board (BT and GPS use same board).

I think he was simply trying to say that not all G5s are affected. Of course here we only read of those with a potential device or user issue.
